I was going to say, the guy is "special".
Cause fire "retardant" is only fire "resistant".

Had my fire retardant pants catch on fire at work. Sort of a theory to practice.

Might I suggest you use a wee bit less hot sauce on your lunch next time? Just sayin...

The next thigh you'll be telling us is that your nose is longer than a telephone wire and wearing orange jump suits like your sis Hil.

My hard hat had a sticker on it that said..
Get real. If if I were lying, my pants would be on fire.
    Or something to that effect.

I no longer challenge fate (In that way).

    Self cauterizing.

    Nope.
Looked like a slaughter house floor.
One of his coworkers was ex-army, and made a tourniquet.
After everyone just had a lecture that ex-military guys were using tourniquets too much.
It's the only reason he lived.
The Lance went through the guy's femoral artery.

Really difficult to cauterize an artery. I have a CAT tourniquet and Quick Clot gauze in my EDC bag.

BTW: Tourniquets are applied too often and improperly.

When I cut my quad open with a circular saw someone tied a belt around my leg, not nearly tight enough. Good thing it was the quad , there are only small veins there. There was very little bleeding. 52 sutures.

The worst misinformation out there is, "loosen the tourniquet at intervals to avoid amputation."

Once a tourniquet is applied NEVER loosen it until the patient is on the operating table. Better to lose a limb than a life.

IANAM but TQs are supposedly good to go for up to 8 hours. (Per two separate training lectures by medics) Due to advances in medicine you are less likely to lose a limb due to one being applied too long causing tissue damage. Apparently the "irreperable harm" line is moving farther and farther out thanks to modern medicine. Yes, you might lose the limb in a 3rd world country, but here you should be fine. And I'd rather throw away a limb than throw my entire body in a box because one wasnt used.

Well my training was 43 years ago. So yes treatment has improved, but the main principle of never loosening it has not.
