I doubt any of the mods here have either the time or inclination to be peeking at PMs so I'm not concerned regardless of what the capability is.

In an absolute sense, nothing on the Internet is private (unless you take some fairly extreme measures). So a good personal policy is to not say anything online that you wouldn't want published in the newspaper.

PMs are private. They are just like an email, meaning that only the sender and recipient can read them.

Not really. An admin can do it pretty easily by just resetting the password to something they know, then log in as the user. I've seen it done on some private boards I use to be a part of. I don't see that ever being an issue on a site like this. I highly doubt Fenway would have the time OR the interest.

Why bother? I really don't need to see 45 pages explaining about why I suck.

Yeah but the first 40 are really funny.

Just don't put anything in writing you would not want your Parents, your Wife, your Children, your Pastor, your Best Friend or a DA to read and you'll be fine.

I swear if I remember correctly I did a google search for something this week and it 'hit' on one of my private messages here on THIS board.

I even posted about it on another board the next day.

But for the life of me I cannot replicate it at the moment. I was likely too busy to write down what it was. But I will put my thinking cap on and try to find it.

Maybe it was visitor messages? I've gotten the two reversed a time or two.

Nope. It had personal information I did not want 'in the clear' on it.
Has made me rethink my whole PM discussions and taking them immediately to email once/when I think I need to put personally identifiable information in communications.
