Currently, I have a Streamlight TLR-1 on my AR. That's getting moved to my Glock as soon as I get my holster. So, what is everyone's recommendation for a light on an AR? I have a quadrail, so recommendations on a mount for it would be appreciated as well.

Elzetta Bravo is what I'd buy if I had the extra money. Very tough, and super bright!

However, I'd like to find a lightweight quality option too to throw out on the end of a 15" rail for the build I am piecing together right now.

I like the inforce wml. The operation is well thought out and the overall light is very lightweight.

What's wrong with another TLR with the rifle kit?

I can't speak for the OP, but there are a few reasons I spent the extra coin on the WMLx.

1: The TLR series doesn't offer much protection from the light being turned on in the safe, rifle bag, trunk etc. The WMLx has a safety lever that flips over the button to prevent accidental activation. I guess you could unscrew the TLR's cap but then you have to remember to tighten it back when you need the light. The WMLx safety can be flipped off with the thumb when the rifle is raised.

2: The TLR switch can easily be activated for constant on instead of momentary by accident. The WMLx has a rocker switch to choose between momentary and constant on.

3: The TLR series is ergonomically designed for more for pistols whereas the WMLx is designed ergonomically for rifles.

4: The WMLx gives me great brightness and throw in a conventional ~1" package that I would have to buy the larger TLR to achieve. That matters to me because I run a scout mount that puts the bezel directly next to the front sight post.

The link I provided in post #3 outlines the benefits of the WMLx over something like a TLR. I know this post sounds like I'm regurgitating what I read in the article but I assure you that they are my own findings, they just happen to corroborate what it says.

I have two surefire scout lights and one insight wml mounted on AR's. I really do like both types of lights. I have put a fair beating on my surefire lights and they have been perfect (except I wish one of my scout lights had a non-clicky cap). My insight has not seen such hard use, but I like what I have seen of it so far.

I'll list my favorite from top to last, but last still good. These are ones I own. There are other awesome lights out there.

    1. Surefire scout with a pressure switch.
    2. inforce weapon mounted lights (I have several of these now and there's some with strobe or constant on options also I have one that has a switch I flip to make it IR for my night vision)
    3. Surefire X300 ultra
    4. TLR weapon light.

A Surefire 6P incandescent with the Cree XML-T6 bulb upgrade. It puts out 650 lumens and increases the run time significantly. This bulb upgrade also works in the older Surefire weapons lights that came with a mount and remote tail switch. I can not remember what the model number is off-hand but 951 sounds familiar.

Surefire. I can't seem to keep anything else to hold up, including Streamlight and the WML. I would like to try out Elzetta, but I've had such good luck with Surefire, I really don't see much of a reason to switch it up.

And you bring up a valid point. I know you shoot A LOT! Much more than I do anymore. If I shot as much as yourself or was going to war, there's no question I'd have a surefire on my gun.
