New AR15

Just got my first Ar15 yesterday. I built the lower and the upper is a Rock River Arms Complete A4 Mid length upper. The Gun is all Rock River arms including the Lower receiver, butt stock & lower parts kit.

A couple things jump out at me that I don't think I can identify.
What is the hole on the rail used for (located directly in front of the ejection port)? It doesn't look like a sling attachment like I've seen before.
What does the Velcro patch on the mag well do for a living?

newest build lower is a dpms with a psa lower parts kit polished trigger components and added JP 3.5lb spring (nice but will be upgradeing in future) standard commercial m4 6 position stock . upper receiver was sold as a WOA but when i received clearly stamped DSA. but it will do for now, WOA bolt carrier group, Wilson combat arms 16'' recon 1n7 stainless SI defense break , Midwest industries 15'' free float . topped off with a vortex 1-4x24. RRA mount . awesome shooter 10rd group under a nickel at 100yds. not to bad for a 4x scope .

Hole is a QD sling swivel mount

WARDOG

After finally trying one out, liking it, and buying one for my other AR, I'm hooked on the ergonomics of the Magpul AFG. (I'm a C-Clamp grip guy) I picked up another AFG2 from INGO user Hickman this week and then traded it to a buddy for an AFG1. So now I have both configurations in my collection.

My New Stag M2

Just thought I'd add a post about my Stag M2.

I have 240 rounds through it so far and have had not problems of any kind. I plan on replacing the hand guard with a MagPul MOE and the pistol grip with the MagPul MIAD. I'm on the fence between the MadPul ACS-L and the STR to replace the CAR stock.

I'm also on the fence between the Aimpoint T1 and PRO for the optic.

I have the irons zeroed at 50 yards, I've not yet had a chance to shoot at any longer distance. Using some '82 vintage Portuguese 55gr ball, I'm getting 1.5 to 2 inch groups off hand at 50 yards.
