That would be great.Mostly just food and water discussion...we are going to start at 7 pm next time....when our group gets bigger we will do the food thing again. I also showed everyone my 72 hour bucket for tornadoes. We are going to do a youtube video on it will post it in here.
Sorry I couldn't make it either. Wife was sick. Hope it was a good turnout.
Hey, survival cookie, I think communications might be a good topic of discussion at the next meeting, I think it might pertain well with the events being discussed in the media currently.
P.S. when is the next meeting
Next 3 meetings will be January 19,2013 February 16, March 16, Will let everyone know what the topics will be once I get them firmed up...was not a big crowd tonight...but we did some planning.

Dose anyone who attends our meeting have any expertise in communications like walkies.

I know a little bit (remember) about the ham side of communications. Kinda let my license expire about 10 years ago and really kicking myself in the butt now for doing that. My Kenwood 520 was taken out by lightening one night and not having a transceiver to use, I kinda lost interest in it.
Anyways, the only thing I could recommend on the ham side is using a 2m or 70cm radio in simplex mode for group communication. It requires a Technician class radio license.
If you want to talk across the US (I mean ACROSS, not a state or two over) or maybe even around the world, jump on the 10 meter band. You'd be amazed how far you can talk on skip during the dawn/dusk hours only using 100 watts.
FYI - The FCC does publish your full name and address with your call sign
Maybe you and I can team up a bit for a presentation/discussion? I can cover CB, FRS, and GMRS and you can you can cover the very basics (licenses, pros/cons, and the different bands) for Ham?
I have missed the last to gatherings. Am out of the loop...when are you meeting again.
