I have had the same 1999 XJ Sport since I turned 16 and that was 9 years ago. Plan on having it for at least another 5 years. Haven't done a whole lot to it because I'm not too mechanically savvy, but I upgraded to a Summit cat back exhaust that gives it a little more rumble (but not too much). The passenger power windows have never worked on it since I have had it and just recently the power locks went out. But damnit I love that Jeep and I would get another one exactly like it if I could.

I think I have decided that when I get my mid summer bonus, the roof is coming off the zj. Was gonna wait to see if i crushed it first to decide interior, hybrid, exo, or full cage. After joking with a friend and remembering I had a brand new OEM JK Unlimited top in the attic i decided to see how it fits. Looks almost too perfect not to try lol

You really want at least an 8k pound winch. You gotta remember when you normally use the winch you arent just pulling dead weight, normally your stuck which adds a lot more resistance for the winch to be pulling

Jeepaddons in Lexington, Ky has Engo winches for shockingly low prices, including shipping. Just tonight, I'm installing a 10,000 pound winch with synthetic rope that I received for $449 shipped. The 9 and 10k also come with a free wireless remote, along with the regular remote.

A 9k winch with steel cable is $289 shipped. The Engo has a great reputation among 4 wheelers. Call Chris at 1 800 388 8637 Ext 1884.

They also have a good deal on a 12K, if you want to go BIG.

Here's a link to a winch shootout where the Engo performed well. Warn was declared the winner because they advertise in the magazine. Read the review and see if you think the Warn really won.

I'm mounting mine on the stock bumper with a Rough Country winch plate. I'll post some pics when I get it all done.

It is going on this Jeep. Just this winter, I put a 2" AEV lift on it and 33" BFG KM2 tires. It is a modest rig because it is my daily driver and I can't afford to break the bank. I also can't afford to break the Jeep, or strengthen drivetrain components. It is already a good trail rig, but when done, it will be very capable of moderate off roading. It is surprising what it would do, just stock, with the diffs locked and the sway bar disconnected. It will do it all while hauling me and 7 of my kids! Not bad!
