I feel so much better now. He mentioned in his speech about straw purchases and stiffer penalties for such. His EO #13 addresses this issue. I fully expect the big O and E. Holder to turn themselves in for their role in Fast and Furious.

This might be the big step:

Doc asks if you have guns
You rightfully answer "Go **** yourself."
    He reports you to authorities
You are deemed unfit to own firearms
They show up at door... Confiscation is the "line in the sand" everyone is talking about.
Or, maybe we try this approach:

Doc asks if you have guns
    You sensible answer "Yeah"
He asks if you practice safe firearm practice? Do you have problems with depression?
You are not deemed unfit to own firearms
You go home with no further incident.

Or maybe when asked you just say, "nope"

When your kids are asked, they need to know what to say too.

    Or...

Doc asks if you have guns.
    You answer "yes".
Doc then tells the "authorities" that he previously prescribed you an anti-depressant -- regardless of the fact that you were going through an unwanted and rough divorce at the time and are now over it no longer taking that medication.
You ARE deemed unfit to own firearms, based on this alone.

Don't be a fool. There is no other rational reason they are doing this other than to increase the number of people they can "reasonably" deny firearm ownership. Remember, it's just "common sense".

Having worked in IT for many years and having directly dealt with HIPPA related issues several times, I really wonder how they are going to reconcile access to private healthcare information for these new and improved background checks based on current laws.

I think I came down with the flue at noon today, but no....I think it was something else that has made me sick and wanting to puke. I sure hope I get well soon.

    ^This.

If you refuse to answer you'll be deemed paranoid.

If you lie and they find out, then what? You're still paranoid or else why did you feel the need to lie about it.

If you tell the truth that you have guns, you're paranoid that you aren't safe because everyone knows the government will protect you.

In any case, you're a nut job.

    Or this
Doc: Do you own any guns?
You: Does this pertain to my medical care or the reason I am here?
Doc: uh uh uh, we like to ask an indepth history?......

None of the doctors I know (except my sons pediatrician who I answered this same way) has ever asked this, and I work with ER doctors daily. If it doesn't pertain to your medical history or chief complaint, they don't need to ask it and you don't have to answer it. It would be likes them asking if you own a car or bought a house.
