If we are going to have builds going in addition to bending flats, we will need more than 1 hydraulic press at the party.

Im planning to bring my 20 ton. im not looking forward to loading it, but Im still planning to bring it.

I think I have access to a small table top drill press that will work. If I can, Ill bring it as well.

If you are looking for parts kits Apex gun parts has some in stock. They also have VZ-58 kits with original barrels. Not technically an AK but close. They are also milled receivers.
Quite a few 5.56 Serbian AK kits but they are all hovering around $600

R Guns has some Bulgarian AK74 kits and some Kirinkov kits.

It's a milled receiver. Smaller than a milled AK. I've seen them for $250 but I think they are considerably more and harder to find now.

Well, my parts kits won't come in before then but my flats *should* so maybe I can bend and try to make myself otherwise useful.

Also, I suppose these barrels should work, no? AK47 16" Barrel , nitrided. New US production - AK00116-D S Arms

I guess they'd have to be drilled. That part has me spooked cause I'm not real sure how.

Did you get center support rivets and the lower rails as well?

As for barrels, try to find a romanian virgin barrel. apexgunparts.com, robertrtg.com, atlanticfirearms.com, all of these have had them recently.

Yes. If you see my posts throughout this thread, I've been updating on my current AMD65 kit. Vitamin K had asked me to show my steps. It's not very hard once you do it.

My T-barrel jig is covered in JB Weld today so barrel install will happen tomorrow. I put the internals back in, put on the safety, and pistol grip since I'm waiting. On the AMD65, the retaining spring has a coil on it. I just cut the spring and made a shepard's crook from the long curved piece left over. You can see it holding the axis pins in.

I'm having a really hard time finding parts after I got my receiver flat. Anyone know where you can get an 80% receiver and some parts?

Arms of America has polish 80% with rails and center support rivet in stock. Better order soon though it took about a month to get my last order from them.

As an FYI there was a guy selling an Egyptian kit on arf yesterday. No idea if it was/is reasonably priced though.

Don't worry if you don't know much. I think only a few of us have actually built a kit. My ideal situation is use 1 Hydraulic press to pump out the flats and then weld. The other press or two would be used to work on the kits that are being built.
