    Could be anywhere
According to the preps reported he had platforms built to shoot from in the room, he had video surveillance set up in the hallway to see when the response showed up and he'd been working on it since last Thursday...how does this happen without anyone noticing? You couldn't get a way with that at a run of the mill Hampton Inn let alone a security conscious casino.

Disagree. One guy could do this alone, whether he did or not is still speculation. Though it's odd that his paramour appears to be in the wind.
Technically, any Army or Marine Corp E-1 Private just out of training could do this, minus the funds for 10 rifles. God forbid, a seasoned combat veteran and a couple thousand dollars!

ETA: sorry Hough, quoted wrong post.

Not really buying into the ISIS claim that he was one of their's, but if it turns out full automatic weapons were used maybe that's where he got them
We had this discussion at work.

It's such a sad event but I knew it wouldn't take long for the usual suspects to start the "ban guns" crap.

Keep the "do not disturb" sign up and be relatively quite and no one will come in your room. It is, after all, Vegas. "Do not disturb" means "do not disturb".

“Well planned”? How much planning does this really require?

Yeah, on the surface, it wouldn't take much planning - except for the rifle purchases.

Tell the front desk you're staying for a long weekend before/after a seminar and no one would care. Smile at the staff and tip appropriate amounts - not too much, not too little - and people will leave you alone. Especially in the "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" vibe.

There are apps that can let you turn any smartphone into a sentry connected to the same network, or within bluetooth/NFC/built-in-wifi distance.

Ugh, too soon, Stop making jokes.

Why? Joking about something serious doesn't mean the person joking doesn't take the serious thing seriously.

Some people deal with tragedies differently than other people. It's probably better not to require everyone react to everything the way you do.

So what is the president's response to this? Does he simply say a speech about how horrible this is, and leave it at that, or does he try to come up with some sort of plan that addresses a problem we have with unsettling regularity?
And how how the hell does Aldean scurry off stage without giving the crowd a "get the hell out of here?"

What do you suggest? Should he be calling for banning guns that had no part at all in this? Lecturing gun owners as if it's our fault people lose their minds and do horrible things. That was Obama's favorite thing to do? Doing nothing is better than doing that.

I'm sorry, I guess we have just the right amount of mass shootings, that we shouldn't try to think of ways to prevent them.

I think it's fine to try to think of ways to prevent mass shootings. I think it's not fine to use tragedies to promote political goals. I think we don't know what is the answer until we understand the problem. Does anyone even know why this guy did this? Maybe figure that out first and then try to figure out how to fix it. To too many people, this looks like just another nail to use the "Ban more guns" hammer. It's better to do nothing than to blindly apply political wet dreams to every problem that comes along.

I'm as a worker in vegas she's routinely out of the country. Though it seems as if she's been out prior to his checking in at mandalay

Go back and re-read my post, added context since no one else understood where I was coming from.

I made a joke earlier, and was told "too soon". So I mockingly used the same thing at his joke.

Because I don't ****ing care if people make jokes. Some either do care, or don't understand them (as three people showed.)

Maybe INGO isn't the best crowd for memery and ****posting.

2x4's, battery screw guns, and mattresses=shooting platform. Or, use the already included desk, or tables in a suite, or, or,...

Killing himself before the cops show up would be considered haram for an ISIS fighter.
They want to be killed to become a martyr and fight to the death, not kill themselves.

Not that murdering people would not be haram anyway.

I've heard lots of nuanced explanations for suicide during jihad, how it's "okay" in this and that situation.

    Probably not relevant here.

A radical believer would have fought the cops. Paddock was simply a psychopath.

Do you want your trial lawyer knocked off center by whatever unexpectedly happens, or able to function and drive on "as usual". I went to work the day my father died (after I found out) and he was the greatest man I ever knew. Only billed 4.7 hours, though (I looked it up). Nothing I could do about it and knew that later that week would be 100% family time. Probably told a few jokes.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but I have no time for emotionality for the sake of appearances. I will keep doing what I do. Points can be made many ways.

Paddock owned planes. He had the scratch.

Would not surprise me if he had legal emmagees.
I'm aware of that, on another board someone posted that a PT Cruiser, and Hyundai SUV did not a "successful" accountant make, I countered with, it might if he already owned two airplanes. The saving part was directed at the average everyday guy. Didn't make myself clear enough as to what I was meaning.
