My wife works for a major hospital and she received the following email this morning (with all patient info removed obviously) concerning one of her patients who passed away recently:
A Marine came and made [name redacted] an Honorary Marine Sergeant and gave him his wings the evening before he passed away. If he were to survive this battle and decide to become a Marine, he would enter as a Sergeant. The Marine had one request and that was if he could stand guard outside [his] room for the courage and bravery that he has shown. The Marine's name is Mark Dolfini.
not a whole lot phases me, but this made the eyes tears up.
