I've called and killed coyotes from a variety of color phases over the years but lately I've collected a pair of good "book ends" for my mantle.

Last December I called up a family group and managed to kill this "white" female in Southern Indiana...

A couple weeks ago, just a few miles up the road, I made a stand and brought this "black" female in.

My wife hasn't complained about either trip to the taxidermist... but I think my luck there has run dry. I doubt anything in-between these color phases is going to impress her next time! :D

We have a ton of them in Greenwood, it is quite a problem for home owners.

They are getting a lot of small dogs out of fenced yards..

Those are awesome. You just need a red one now. I have never seen a black or white one, but in my neighborhood, several very red ones have been killed. Must be an Irish setter on the loose that likes to party with the natives.:dunno:

    Thanks guys.

    Lamm, - Southern Indiana

Cyprant - Seems to be a range of $400-$1,000 to have a full mount done.

shadow- The black & white were both taken in the dark.

Ghuns - I've shot half a dozen reddish ones over the years, sold most of them to taxidermists. Never had one mounted for myself.

Very cool. You should post pics when you get them back from the taxidermist. Cyprant to answer your question mounted it the correct term and it would run around 400 plus from the taxidermist i use for a full body mount. A shoulder mount should be less.

Neat colors! Any reason you use the 22-250? Flat shooter maybe?

    Thanks,

Sure it's a flat shooter but there are dozens of flat-shooting options out there. I've killed a LOT of coyotes with flat shooting .223 / .204 and so forth but the 22-250 just offers an extra "commanding" punch on coyote sized game even when shot placement isn't the greatest.

Really, where at? I live off of Stop 18 and Averitt, haven't seen anything like that. I have seen a fox or two, though.

Might be something to think about... we have a couple dogs in a fenced-in yard. What would the reprocussions be for me to fire on a coyote in my backyard if I were to see one? Handgun, probably 50ft from Stop 18. Bad yeah?

Edit: Or I guess I could use .223

A few years ago a guy I new in Allen County trapped one that looked like the dark one. It was far beyond the biggest ugliest yote I have ever seen. Those are great! congrats
