I'm wondering the same thing. When teaching our kids safety or marksmanship are we in technical violation when we hand them a firearm?

I think it has to be provided by a parent or guardian but I don't have the IC book marked.

Maybe because it wasn't his kid and he did it without parental consent, or something like that.
Otherwise millions of gun owners would be in trouble for letting their kids shoot.
I remenber in a video where Rob Pincus showed a kid how to shoot for the first time.He said since the kid was 17 he had to get his father's consent.
