    870 and Magpul. :patriot:

870 marine and Magpul:yesway:. I've always wanted one of those. Wish I would have bought one a few years ago, price seems to have gone up.

To the OP, just my .02. I believe 870's are more versatile, and I like the fit and finish much better. That being said, I also have a Mossberg 590 that I think is much more comparable to the 870 than is the 500.

Everyone keeps talking about how many aftermarket parts there are for an 870 but the 500's have just as much, everything you would want to do to a shotgun. I bought the full camo synthetic stock with the smooth barrel and rifled. This gun works for everything I do. Compared to and 870 i feel my 500 is lighter. The fore end does wiggle but not noisy or annoying by any means. The action is a lot quieter in the 500 too which i like because I dont believe in safetys. If i want a safe gun I dont have a round in the chamber. When in the woods it is easy to manually pop a shell out of the mag and load in silence

I have used both. Mossy for home defense, Remy for hunting, clays and just messing around. I like shooting the 870 more, but the 500 is decked out for home defense. They really are the same in quality in my opinion

The versatility and availability of aftermarket parts for the 870 and the rattle of the 500 that made me go with the 870.

REALLY don't like my shotguns to rattle sounding like they are going to fall apart.

I used both the Remington 870 and the Mossberg 590 in the Air Force. I like and would use either. The only large pro for the Remington is that switching ammo with rounds in the tube can be done without losing a shell, unlike the Mossberg. Small difference, but it made my choice easy.

The Moss 500 is a good gun. That was my first duck hunting gun and I never had any problems with it. I know the 870 has a loyal following to so they must be good as well.

own both. like like 870 better, especially if you find a nice older one. not the Japan ones

none of the 870s come from Japan... :dunno:

I think he's confusing Remington with Browning.

    Very good point :yesway:
