Got it, love it, its actually my wife's as I carry a Glock, but I use it a lot. Especially in a formal situation, I have an uncle mikes that I tuck into my waistband (not pants) ...... then tuck shirt over. Its nice also for walking the dog, I can put 2 rounds of ratshot in it as a deturent for critters, need be. Only problem is you are restricted to 5 shots. But really how many should you need? (that will get thread jacked) .

got it... love it... great CC piece... round capacity is the only issue... lots of range time needed to get really good with it... hurts to shoot +p loads but its a snubby so i wouldnt expect anything differant... when i carry mine, i forget that i am carrying and have to keep checking to make sure its there.... if going the revolver route, it would be my ONLY reccomendation unless you want to go with the 442 which is a scandium... just takes a little bit of weight off.

Crap....where did mine go......NM its still there.

They are light and small, like was stated 5rd is a bummer but it is a great carry piece.

S&W does make one in .357 that is 12 oz opposed to the 15oz of the 642.

I have a no-lock 442 and my fiance has a 642. They weigh and look the same except the 442 is blued. Are you sure the 442 is scandium?

no i am not sure..... saw a link about it... i am pretty sure smith and wesson has a hammerless snubby that is lighter than the 642... just at a loss at the moment as to what it is...

No, the 442 is Aluminum. in 38+p.

The 340PD series is the scandium/aluminum
in .357. 340 M&P is the same with the exception that
the cylinder on the M&P is steel where on the PD is titanium.

The 442 is the same as teh 642 just blued.

S&W makes and air lite that is .357 and that is the scandium. I think it is the 340 or something like that. the .38 +p rounds hurt after one or two in the 642, I couldnt imaging a full power 357 mag in a 12 oz pkg

the airWEIGHT is 15oz... the airLIGHT is 12oz... just a quick search so i may still be wrong... the airLIGHT is a scandium frame and a titanium cylander... takes 3oz off the total weight and is rated for .357

I have a 340PD and have yet to try a full house 357 in it!

I'll get a cylinder in it at the next range trip.

My wife has a 642 and we both love it. It's light enough that she doesn't mind carrying it. I haven't shot +P's through it yet but the recoil isn't bad with regular loads. I may have to get one for myself.
