I got this idea last night that I should buy a lever action 357. Never owned anything lever action, but it sounds fun. It would also help justify keeping my 357 revolver.

It doesn't have to be pretty. What are some brands/models I should look into?

Well what do you know...thinking the same thing earlier today.

I ended up going with the 45 colt idea - but will likely end up with 38 sp (357 to be exact) too. Since semi autos won't work with my current revolvers and I love lever actions anyhow, this is a win win. You can't go wrong having two uses for the same ammo.

Henry rifles shoot very well and would be what I'd recommend to you, Sir.

For price get a Rossi. I have them in 44 mag and have been thinking about getting one in .357 since it is easier to find a cowboy revolver in .357.

The Rossi rifles are pretty nice.

Here's Mine Rossi .357 circa 1981. Unfired and have the box and paperwork. Might trade it for aBlack Rifle................

I have a Marlin 1894c I would recommend. Turns the 357 into a different animal with the longer barrel around 400 fps faster. A friend in high school had a Rossi 357 we literally ran 1,000's of 38 reloads through without a hitch. It was very smooth not sure about the newer Rossi/Puma rifles

I love my Rossi 92 in 357. Accurate as can be and lots of fun to shoot. I reload .38sp/357, so can use the same setup for the lever gun.

Thanks for all the good info!

I am a little shocked seeing the prices of some of these rifles! I was hoping for around or below $500. Much above that, they lose their cool factor for me. I still want one, and am gonna keep looking!

You can pick up Rossi's for less than $500 new.

again, Henry Big Boy .357, excellent rifle. you would not be unhappy if you had one.
besides, get one quick, it holds 10+1 rds, might become an assault rifle someday and then you would be glad to have it.
i am going to buy another one soon, one for shooting and one for storing.
    just in case.
oh, and if you choose Henry, go for the octagonal barrel, its sets off the look.

I like the idea of having multiple guns of the same caliber. And 357 isn't to terribly expensive, plus with the option of being able to shoot .38 even cheaper. I would do it, plus im a big fan of lever guns.

I have been thinking about the same thing. I have a .357 Rossi revolver that I love. I am probably going with a Rossi lever action as well. But if a Marlin or Henry would pop up and be the right price, then I wouldn't hesitate with them either.
