I have a Marlin 1894 in 44 magnum that I love. All four of my deer in the last four years have been taken with this gun. My neighbor has taken deer with the same gun in 357 magnum. Can't really speak to the Rossi, but I have handled the Henry Big Boy, and really liked it as well.

    Good luck.

I have a few lever guns in both .357 and .44 mag. If you can pair them to a pistol of the same caliber it is a win win situation. Both shoot well for me (marlin's and henry's) and you would be served well by either IMO.

I tried to find a Marlin because its set up with a scope mount. Gave up the search and settled for a Rossi. Brass bead front sight really helps. Its accurate as heck. Love it even with out a scope. Paid 450 NIB.

I put a brass bead front sight and a Marbles Bullseye rear on my octagon barreled Rossi. Still waiting to take it out and try the combination.
