I have said this many many times and the answer I always get is there is more demand for it. There isn't that much more demand for it than there was 10 years ago. Funny how the oil companies report BILLIONS in profit every quarter but I will not start a debate on this.

I agree Ambu that this is just going to put us right back where we were if it keeps this up.

Gas is $3.99 here by the house and was $3.77 across from work when I left and it is only 10 miles.

Its that high cost of Middle East oil that we don't buy. Or is it the amount of refined fuels that we export that is cutting into our supplies?

Diesel up this way was $3.99 several places.

I won't be driving to the range on Saturday (25 miles one way) due to the gas prices. They've hit my threshold for unnecessary driving.

I really wish I had a mercedes 300D engine to slap in my cherokee. For similar price, rather have the diesel all day long..

THIS is why you DON'T take away tax breaks and subsidies for oil companies. Like it or not, they have a HUGE impact on the economy. If gas goes up, shipping goes up (for companies, not your flat rate USPS cost...), and if shipping goes up, everything goes up. Except luxury travel, which goes DOWN.

Sorry, that might have been a bit political.

I have been driving my wifes Aveo to school (The Hooter Scooter:D) since it gets around 35 mpg. I think I am going to build a hydrogen system and hook that up in the next few weeks, and see if I can get that up to about 42-44 mpg. I can't even afford to start my truck with these prices.

Man, I just noticed, my 1,000th post and it wasn't as inspiring as I wanted!

Filled up for $3.74 yesterday in Michigan City. Drove to Indy today, and it was $3.76 at lunch time. By the time I came home, it was up to $3.999. Lebanon and a couple stations in Lafayette were $3.68 and $3.69 tonight. Then it was $3.99 all the way up 421 except Casey's in Westville. I filled up there for $3.85, guessing (correctly) that Mich. City was also up to $3.999.

I put $10 worth of gas in today (@3.999 around 2.5gal). Went and ran some errands, I'm back at nearly empty. Got around 55miles out of it.

    Sigh.

Not too bad for a POS 1994 Toyota Camry that needs a tune up.
