Does it really hurt to shot .22 long rifle 36grain hollow point shells out of a 10/22 carbine? I wouldn't think so but maybe im wrong.

most bulk .22lr ammo is hollowpoint. I can only think of CCI Mini-mags in target variety for solid point, there are a few others, too.

In short, no.

You should be more worried about the quality, though 10/22s will shoot almost anything.

Have not heard this warning. The only ammo warning I am aware of is this:

It just said something about blunt tip ammo, and mine has a flat tip with the hollow point. Probably just some technical jargon.

Only if you are looking down the wrong end of the barrel.

I'm pretty sure this would be in reference to wad cutter type ammo. Wad cutters do not typically feed well from a magazine and must be loaded as a single shot. Other than wad cutters your 10/22 should eat all you can feed it of about any type of ammo (should, every rifle is different though).

I will also add that I found that BOTH my Ruger target 10-22 and also Ruger Competition Mark II will split the case from CCI's Quik-Shok from the mouth clear to the rim... My standard Mark II's and 10-22 shoot this same ammo fine. The warning about the tighter target chambers must hold much truth !

All other ammo I have tried, including all the bulk packs , have worked fine.

The only ammo I can get to feed 100% reliably in my 10/22 carbine is stingers and velocitors.

I think the only ammo I have ever shot out of my 2 ruger 10/22's have been HP mostly bulk federal .22 hp or remington .22 hp

I had bought one for a Christmas present. The book had some crazy wording about ammo. So i thought i would check with the INGO world just to make sure i was thinking correctly. Never hurts to ask!

We have run several 1000's of Federal bulk pack through the 10/22 no problems. I have one with a factory barrel and one with a carbon fiber tention barrel both run it great.

Magazines also are a major factor in FTFs. Hollow points jam more when I use third party mags.
