      My son, who gave me the red dot for my birthday, first said it is magic and then, when I wanted more, referred me to Wikipedia. As a retired engineer with lots of time on my hands I would like something a bit more technical. I thought someone out there might have similar want to know obsession...

      How do red dot sights work?

      Can anyone tell me how a red dot sight works? I have one on my Ruger MarkIII Target pistol. If I hold my gun still and move my head, the red dot moves but so does the target image. What is going on? Why doesn't it have cross hairs? :dunno:

      Renewing/Applying for LTCH...

      The biggest hassle for me was that the Indiana state police will not accept cash, check or credit card. You must have the state police portion of the fees in the form of a money order! The sheriffs office took cash for their fee.

      You can apply on line like I did. You still must go to your local police or sheriff's office to pay the fees and if it is your first, get fingerprinted. check this: Application for Handgun License

      Current LTCH Wait

      The law says you are supposed to get a response to your LTCH application in within 60 days. The Hendricks County Sheriffs office told me 16 to 18 weeks. I got it a few days ago after 41 days. (not quite 6 weeks):dunno:
