Am I the only one who read the thread title as "Federal agent shoots [his own] ankle [while] charging [a] rat terrier in Fishers"?
It makes for a more interesting mental image, anyway... :)

This is a mid- to late-1960's Smith & Wesson Model 39, no dash, 9mm pistol. Serial Number 34xxx. Aluminum frame. Fewer than 200 rounds through it.
The Model 39 was the first American-made, double-action, semi-automatic pistol built. It...
Any interest in a straight-up trade for my LNIB Gen 3 G34 with two 17-round magazines? It's less than a year old and has around 250 rounds through it. I wouldn't mind having another G24.

The 590A1, at least, is available in both 6- and 9-shot capacities. It also has a heavy-walled barrel, aluminum trigger guard, and dual action bars.
The 500 has more aftermarket barrels available. The 590 and 590A1 have a different barrel mounting lug.
It's an option, but probably not necessary. I wouldn't spend the money on one just yet, if at all. Try the suggestions in this thread first and see how it goes. :yesway:
