in the summer days it's usually a keltec 380. when i'm layered up it's gonna be something bigger. better to have a 380 on your hip than a 45 in the safe.
Don't forget you need the LtCH if you want to carry on your person OR in your vehicle (or preferably, both). So most people with the permit are going to have one on their person and another in their vehicle. The carry gun might be a compact handgun and the vehicle gun a larger handgun or...
I think this issue is being overcomplicated. The two guns are meant to be carry-anywhere, backup sort of guns.
If you cant finish it with 6 (or 6+1) rounds of 380 +P then you need to retreat, or consider a different CCW.
fit, finish, features, are not meant to be important. These are...
KS & E had a 75 or 85 (forgot which) for a good price when I was in there the other day, and also a SP-01. That's the place to go for CZs in town, they often have 82s as well. And czech ammo for czech guns... S&B. Good guys there and you got to love the small shop atmosphere.
Consider a CZ 75 variant, especially the SP-01. It has a decent SA pull which can easily be improved. You can keep it in the drawer with the hammer down on a loaded chamber, which makes the first shot DA and the rest SA. Or with hammer back and safety on. Or with hammer back and no round in...
You have to shoot a lot of pistols and then decide what you like. If you want something like a glock but not, go for an XD. I liked the way it feels in my hand better than the glock, but the trigger safety still feels strange. There are other poly guns based on completely different actions...
I have the p3at and shot quite a few rounds through it including +P buffalo bore and also the corbon powrball. Not a single failure and that includes shooting it dirty.
Never tried the LCP but my thought is, the kel tec is $100 cheaper and its the tried and true, while the LCP is a new design...
Beretta 92 is a great shooter, I liked it almost as much as a CZ. Never shot the px4 but I have shot the stoeger. Not as comfortable to me for plinking but if I had to carry it's no contest - get the storm.
I'd much rather have the 44 mag tracker for 250 than a judge for 350. Hey if you ever get bored with it I'll come pick it up and pay you what you paid for it!
