Rain gear is the constant problem for outdoors enthusiasts. It's a gore text non-breathable usgi type, or something else (lighter) with a dwr coating.
i like the marmot precip for a nicely priced jacket with pit zips. The USGI model would be better for continual use, but is huge and heavy.
The ILBE is not adjustable for your personal back measurements. It's nicely made, but one may wish to visit a backpacking site or 3 to note measurements and adjustability options for real use. Lots of places (ULA) have videos on how to take the back measurement. The ILBE is HEAVY.
I'm going to take another moment in this thread and mention eye care.
Safety glasses, one clear and one shaded, weigh very little, cost very little, and are omitted frequently. I have one good eye, so I use them at home and work for most tasks that might create debris.
Checklite
I handled one. After my personal P30 light/medium LEM fail (can't shoot it / unwilling to send 2k at paper to become adequate) I can't wait to run one.
I will probably keep my USPC for carry. Tom, what did you pay for the LEO pack?
I think S&W has made some changes and improvements to their M&P line recently. I'm not sure if it affects .40, but it may be worth looking at prior to purchasing used.
Just don't buy your coated bolts from a guy on a street corner, you don't know where he got them, or where he had them coated. Known good manufacturer, that's my point.
And also provides an element by element breakdown per piece, and if the internal library reads that as 'unknown' because the %(plus or minus x%) does not match the internal library, one can take those numbers to any host of databases and figure out what the material is.. Yeah. So you're wrong...
Yeah, that's a big 10-4, but it's the first step in the process. All I'm trying to say is that if you prefer phosphate, buy from a respected company. If you want nitride or nib, buy from a respected company. If they coat a turd, it's a polished turd, literally.
And yes, collecting accurate...
i work in the NDE/NDT field. I'm pretty sure I can get an accurate breakdown of any metal as long as I can remove the coating properly. I'm absolutely sure that one coated bolt (came with my fake Colt carrier) was lighter, and looked to have a different finished appearance (after...
My point is a known good manufacturer will list their materials. And no, I'm not worried about Colt or BCM. Foolish? Maybe. Maybe ill file off some coating and hit them with the PMI gun.
Will a phosphated (read: with surface geometry) actually allow more lubricant to adhere to its surface vs coated stuff? My only worry would be getting some garbage metal coated, just to have a failure later - lube issues don't worry me. Mobil 1 20w50.
I noticed a big difference in weight and...
I run a USPC in V3 for ny carry, and it has been safe and reliable. I think that as long as you recognize what your tool is at that moment it is readable to go back and forth.
