      FN five-seven vs Keltech PMR-30

The .17 HMR is rimfire not centerfire. Also, the best velocity figure I could find in a pistol length barrel (6.375" in this case*) was 2100 fps with a 17 grain bullet. This would yield 166 lb-ft of energy and in a 4.3" PMR barrel, it would be less. That yields performance similar to the .22...

      FN five-seven vs Keltech PMR-30

In terms of ballistic performance, it is not contest. .22 mag out of a six inch barrel maxes out at about 1600 fps (.22WMR/Magnum Velocity Tests (28,30,45gr) - XDTalk Forums - Your XD/XD(m) Information Source!), which gives a max energy of 170 Lb-ft. The PMR 30 has a 4.3 inch barrel, so it will...

      FN five-seven vs Keltech PMR-30

The FN 5.7 pistol was developed in the mid-90's and has been commercially available since 2000 (though only since 2004 for civilians). That is not relatively new vs. the 2009 introduction of the PMR-30. Further, the current 5.7 pistol is not DAO. The original gun was designed with a DAO...

Which of your guns for long shot wager.

I would use my .22 target pistol, currently sighted for a 6 o'clock hold on a B-33 target at 50 feet. With my aim point about 1/3 of the way from the bottom and CCI SV ammo, I could hit the target at any range out to 120 yards. To hit at 150, I would need to hold just below the top of the...

      10/22

Looking for a cheap 10/22 for a project gun. Really do not care what the stock and barrel look like as they will be replaced anyway. Let me know. Open to offers. Looking to spend $150 or less. PM me with offers. Prefer ftf in central Indiana.

      Trigger Finger Blister from Kahrs

I think you need to grip the gun a bit higher and have your trigger finger a bit higher as well. You might have "too much" finger on the trigger as well. The reset on a Kahr (I have two) is a bit "positive" to say the least and does take some getting used to.

      sight question for 1911

crap...never mind. I just took another look and I think that the rear sight cut is not a novak cut. So make sure you measure it B4 you order any parts.

      sight question for 1911

The rear dovetail "looks" like a novak cut. However, you should measure to ensure that it is a true novak spec. Or at least close enough that you could add a novak rear sight with only minor fitting. Note that the novak rear cut is .495" x 65° Here is a sight I have on my GSG 1911 that I am...

      Pre 2000 Buckmark firing pin?????

This is the not the right pin. You need part # B5152657. I tried looking at Midwest Gun Works, and they did not have them in stock either. See: http://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/prod/B5152657

How Often Should Guns be cleaned?

For my carry guns, my simply gorgeous model 19 revolver and my AR...every time they are shot. For the rest of guns, about every 500 rounds. I have a couple of guns I have not fired in a year or more - they were cleaned the last time they were fired and have not been cleaned since. I have...

      first handgun

For lower cost guns, I like a Bersa, a Stoeger Cougar or a Ruger LC series pistol (LCP or LC9). You might find a Kel-Tec that is a bit cheaper than a similar Ruger, but I would take the Ruger over the Kel-Tec. I would also lok at a S&W SW series. I am a bit confused by your preference for 380...

      9mm vs. 45acp

Except in a really heavy gun where the difference is negligible, I would rather shoot a 45 than a 40. That being said, worry about hitting your target since that is sort of the most important thing. Never mind if the bad guys are trying to take you and you have to (hopefully not) return...

      Looking to upgrade holster

I use one of these for my Kahr TP 45 and I have been quite pleased.

Fully adjusted rear sight for a glock?

LPA is a good option. Or Meprolight, Glock or Kensight. Search results for: glock adjustable sight

      Kahr T9 vs. Glock 19 or 26 Gen 4

I replaced my G19 with a TP45. My choice was to go up to 45 to offset carrying fewer rounds (plus I carry two spare mags). That being said, the T9 might weigh a bit more than the G19, so the TP9 might be better gun to consider versus the G19. Though with 7 extra rounds in the G19, the loaded...

      1911 compact 9mm

STI makes a few 9 MM 1911 pistols in commander or officer sizes. Look at the LS9, the Escort, the Off Duty, the Guardian and the Ranger II (listed from smallest to largest). Plus, there is the double stack VIP, which with its relatively thin grips is about the same width as a 1911 and carries...

      Pistol Barrel/Feed Ramp Polish

I have used plastic headlight cleaner with great success. Heck...you can use toothpaste if you want.

      Ruger MKIII trouble

Did you clean the mags? If you are using lead ammo or even jacketed ammo with any sort of wax coating or lubricant on them, you will get a buildup inside the mag body that causes a bit of drag that is most likely to cause a FTF when the spring is under less tension.

      Ruger MKIII vs. Buckmark

Taking them apart is about a draw. Buckmark has more small parts that you could lose and the Ruger will be harder to put back together. However, the Ruger has more aftermarket parts available. And if you get into serious target shooting or hunting, that matters. If the difference in grip...

New here and new to 1911s looking for opinions

A fine choice. I would also consider a Springfield Range Officer or Loaded Target.
