No one in this video or thread called for banning alcohol? Unless I missed something.Drinking is the social lubricant. Makes certain events and times in our life more enjoyable, for those who can handle it. Millions of people down through the ages have had alcohol and have done so responsibly. Of course the flip side is just as many can't do that. Personal accountability and discipline are part of this. I go out and have a drink and it's going to be a one or two drink limit 90% of the time. On a rare occasion I'll allow myself more but have a designated driver, or Uber or something so that I don't drive afterwards. If you have, or want, to give up alcohol, I applaud you. If you want to keep drinking on occasion, know your limits and don't hurt anyone, keep on keepin on. There will always be people for and against alcohol, but I liken this to legal gun owners. There are plenty who can own guns responsibly and cause no harm to society or their fellow man and then there are those who can't. Do we think it's a good idea to disarm everyone because of those who can't act responsibly?
Well said. Some can drink milk. At a point in my life I found that if I drank milk, bad would happen. Same with alcohol. Just because my brain loves it but my body revolts when I have it, doesn't mean others can't. I admit I got my ass beat by a molecule.Drinking is the social lubricant. While the word "ban" was never used, the undertone of the entire video is that if you choose to drink, you will eventually ruin your life because drinking is a constant downhill ride that never levels out. In fact, the very first opening line of the video states that [if you drink] "You'll ruin your life some how, some way."No one in this video or thread called for banning alcohol? Freedom.
Agree on all points especially moderation. I don’t think it will ruin all lives but I would venture to guess it will make more lives worse than it improves. Nothing scientific to back up this claim purely my opinion. But I also bet the buffet ruins more lives than it improves. While the word "ban" was never used, the undertone of the entire video is that if you choose to drink, you will eventually ruin your life because drinking is a constant downhill ride that never levels out. I applaud those who have recognized a problem, and have overcome its grip. I can't express my respect for you nearly as strongly as you deserve. Congrats to all who have put the bottle down.
That being said, alcohol is not the problem. It is lack of control. Some people can crack a beer with a friend and stop at one, and some people can't. Just like some can walk into a casino with $50 to play with and then stop when its gone, and some end up blowing their rent money. Some people can walk into a buffet and stop at one plate, while others have to be wheeled out in a wheelchair (I'm looking at you INGO).
I believe MODERATION is the key in everything. If you can't stop drinking until you are blacked out, then it is better to just not drink at all. If you can't walk into a casino without spending hours at the Blackjack table and blow your rent money, then it's better to just not go there. If you have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, pre-diabetes, and are 200 lbs overweight, you might want to pass on the Golden Corral.

You'd make a lousy Liberal Democrat.Well said.
People need to learn self control and also identify what may cause them harm and act accordingly. Back in my late 20's, I developed acid reflux. I found that there were a number of things that I could no longer eat or drink, if I didn't want to have serious pain and discomfort. I gave up citrus fruits, even though I loved oranges and orange juice. I also had to give up colas. Over time, I had to give up all drinks with carbonation. My ex-wife has acid reflux as bad or worse than I do, but still drinks multiple Cokes a day and can't give it up. She's miserable because of what it does to her, but hasn't been able to kick the habit. If you can't handle xxx and give it up, good for you. I fully understand plenty of people are going to continue to eat oranges and drink pop, I just understand that I'm not one of those people. It's just the way things are and I'm fine with that.
