if our economy fails or disaster strikes or government goes too far in upsetting the masses, they will knock on your door to collect your guns before you can even use them. this has happened over and over throughout history and they usually go unchallenged. not even challenged by the people who know bad things are going to happen. think about all of the most well known civilizations and governing bodies and you will see the trend. Nazi Germany comes to mind first but there are many. The Nazi party took over Germany by winning the hearts of the masses and then imposing there will. they went through the streets disarming citizens and making them helpless and still none questioned there goals. this is why our founding fathers wrote the constitution. it is not an instruction manual for government officials to follow. it is however a warning system for the citizens of this country to know when its government is no longer upholding the values that our ancestors fought for. the warning signs are there and some government officials would love to see all of us disarmed and eventually they will. fewer and fewer people are capable of critical thinking and now we are the few among millions of media watching sheep that all believe the hype surrounding the dangers of me having a gun. so my question to you is this what will you do when there are 15 armed soldiers standing at your door while you family is inside eating dinner, demanding your guns?

There are going to be a lot of "boating accidents" around the country before the scenario depicted happens.

We'll not bury our guns, try to claim we lost them, or hide them. My wife, son and I have made the decision to fight. Hopefully we'll have time to run and meet up with other folks before the knock on the door. If not, after we fall there will be fewer thugs and traitors left to knock on someone else's door. Death, to us, only means getting to heaven sooner than we thought we would.

I worry for my family, but my wife knows I wil die in my doorjamb if it came to that. I do not understand it, but over the last year or two I have felt a deepening of convictions like never before. It is not the Obama presidency alone, but the realization of just how far America has slumped over the last century. I make no false pretences of heroism, but my my convictions, now, truly run deeper than ever. And I am not alone.

"And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the down-stairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of a half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? After all, you knew ahead of time that those bluecaps were out at night for no good purpose. And you could be sure ahead of time that you'd be cracking the skull of a cutthroat. Or what about the Black Maria sitting out there on the street with one lonely chauffeur - what if it had been driven off of or its tires spiked? The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt.

If .... if... We didn't love freedom enough. And even more - we had no awareness of the real situation... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward."

At least we can take comfort in the fact that our government is doing just the opposite of the Nazi's by raising the ire of most of the population by catering to the fringe. One thing is for certain, they will not "charm" their way to a gun free society.

I've always been a person who refused to latch on to the "doomsday" guys who preached the "survivalist" mentality. Now I find myself latching and feeling guilty because I'm many, many years behind. Until now I've had enough faith in my country to believe it could never happen...until now. I'm currently spending all expendable cash on items for a "rainy day". There is an organization called Oath Keepers that addresses at least a portion of this ultimate national nightmare. I've suggest it to all my police/military friends and some, including myself, have had to do some soul searching. Check them out, it's very thought provoking.

Your not the only one. The wife and I are in the process of getting up to speed on our family's self preservation.

Even under National Socialism, the concept of private property was still a functioning social institution.

If this administration is allowed to continue with its agenda, I wouldn't even guarantee that.

From the tone of this thread, I will assume that basic civil laws have broken down and martial law has been declared. I have a few items that I will surrender to appease the gods of chaos, but the bulk of my things will travel with me. Once the sanctaty of my home has been violated, it is no longer a safe haven. Time to move on. Head to the BOL and hunker down.

Even as I type this, a chill runs thru me. I pray ths never happens. But if it should, I'll be ready.

:yesway: I agree, sir. For one thing we don't have enough troops and police to do it. AND the majority of them would refuse to do it.

most likely it wouldn't be "our" troops doing the knocking. it will be the little guys with the blue hats which come a calling. and if this is the case, then i will have no remorse in my actions. which leads me to my second point:

15????!!!!!!! THATS ONLY TWO MAGS! MY WIFE AND SON WILL BE MAD BECAUSE THEY WON'T EVEN BE ABLE TO GET IN ON THE ACTION. THEY BETTER SEND ABOUT 45 TO 50 IF THEY WANNA REALLY PARTY!

Nobody gets out of here alive...

Every man dies, not every man really lives.

Lots of truth in those statements. Sometimes a man must fight for his principles, even when faced with overwhelming odds. To preserve liberty for future generations seems like a noble cause.

I do not know how to say this.I am having a difficult time with it myself.I would not sit idle as they went from the houses of my friends and neighbors. The difficult part comes in trying to explain this to my daughter.I have given it some though, and already approached the topic in some manner with her.We talked about how hard it must have been to be a soldier during the war of independence.Fathers and sons had to leave there families, there jobs, there homes.I had to ask her if she understood why they had to.She said yes,so there children could live free. Then we talked a little about responsibility, and duty.I asked her if she felt it was every Americans duty to defend the constitution. She agreed it was.At that point she asked me isn't that what our soldiers do? I said yes of course it is,and found the oath of a soldier "I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.
I ended the conversation by letting her know I had taken that oath while I served and would always honor it.

I stopped the conversation there, because I did not have a clue how to proceed any further. How do you explain to a 13 year old you fear the constitution you swore an oath to protect is being used for TP?I also felt a great deal more respect for those brave men who had to have the same conversation with there wives and children as they went off to fight for our right to be a nation.Still gives me chills thinking about it.And that one day I may have to keep that oath so my daughter can grow up in a free country.

That speaks more about your convictions than anything else. Taking that oath is a big deal. Many of us have done it. Not too many seem to really understand what exactly it means.

    Hiding from reality
My response, which includes those that are with me:

"C'MON YOU APES, YOU WANNA LIVE FOREVER!!!" credited to an unkown Sgt, WW1.

I just have to hold out 'till the calvary arrives, and we move on, though at this time I do not see it happening.

BTW, Smokingman, my 13 y/o daughter asked me what happened to freedom in this country the other night. I am still sniffling.
