    Police: 16-year-old accidently shot in stomach

    Police are investigating an accidental shooting in Hamilton County.

    It happened in the 8300 block of East 216th Street at around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

    A neighbor told 24-Hour News 8 a gun accidently discharged in the garage striking a 16-year-old in the stomach.

    The teen’s mom was at home at the time of the shooting and helped administer aide until medics arrived. The teen was rushed to Methodist Hospital.

    No word on the teen's condition at this time.

    Man I hope he's ok. 16 is too young to go. Best time of life. Here's hoping the news is wrong(as they frequently are) and that it was just a pellet gun.

    Their neighbor said the boys hunt and handle guns all the time(ch13) and they don't know if it was a rifle or a shotgun. How do they not know that??? It's a tragic, senseless loss.

    When I first heard this story I wondered how long it took EMS to arrive. Channel 13 said they were called immediately though so he must have sustained a severe wound. Very upsetting incident.

    That's why everyone needs to be careful with their firearms and storage. The anti-gun folks view this as another example...

    So sad, he did have an entire lifetime ahead of him. Godspeed.

    very sad to know the outcome, and its a grim reminder of regardless of how experinece our kids may be with firearms we still need to keep an eye on them. I feel very sorry for the family and will be thinking about these for a long time when I see my son.
