Heard about it since the first time I ever rode a bike. Never did it, never even thought it was ever likely to ever happen. Don't recall any one ever actually saying it happened to them.

Don't wait until you are 54 years old to hit the front brake and go over the handle bars head first for the first time ever.

It's not much fun so far and still getting worse every time I get up again to move around or do something.

    Ouch! Hope you are ok.

It happened to one on the neighbor kid when we were growing up. Same kid that tried to take his 10-speed off the ramp that we built in front of the house, and crashed over the handle bars.

0-2 for him, resulting in a chipped tooth, and several scrapes.

I took your advice and didn't wait. It did it at 12 years old, racing down a long hill. Hit a pothole on the street and landed chin-first. Got some stitches and lost the race. Sigh...

My little brother hit a speed-bump going downhill in an apartment complex in northern Ca. when he was about 6 or 8 years old. Goose-neck broke, and he ran himself over with his own bike!:ugh:

When he stopped, he still had the handlebars in his hands! Tore him up pretty bad, but he's done a lot more "brilliant" things in the 40 years since!:D

    Where's the bacon?
Ow! Sorry to hear this, Jack.

Tylenol and Advil are your friends. Please take them only by label directions.

Neosporin is good for road rash. If you get the kind that numbs also, it helps.

    Hope you feel better soon.

    Blessings,
    Bill

I don't know if i ever did a real good one, but i watched my brother do a nice Superman over the handle bar. His shirt was draped across the handle bars and slipped into the front tire stopping it cold out of no where. luckily, we where(i was) laughing about it soon after.

I was aout 14 when that happened to me on a mountain bike. Ran a stop sign and landed square on a hood of a cop car. Never did get in trouble. I did go down on my cruiser about 5 years ago. Layed it down avoiding an accident. Broke my ribs lost patches of hair and skin as i rolled thru an intersection. The worse part was the nurse scrubbing the tar out of the road rash..

I hit the pavement once in Germany riding without hands going down a hill.
It was on a bike and I was only 9 yrs old. I chipped my 2 front teeth and busted my lip open and the bike was all messed up. It was a freind of mines and I had to take it back to her all messed up. Then when I was 16 I burnt my leg real bad on the muffler of a bike. No I am not accident prone.

I bet you scored high in "style" points!

Heal quick, you know what they say.
Ya gotta get right back on the horse that threw ya!

By the way, it could have been worse!
Somebody could have got it all on film!

I've read your posts, so I call :bs:

Glad you made it out OK...I'm half your age and I don't even want to imagine how fudged I'd feel if I did something like that now.

Now that's not nice. We've got to keep hope alive, those doctors could still heal and be as good as they ever were.

Distant memory now... even the brain damage is starting to heal the doctors tell me.
I'd like to thank you for taking the plunge for us older guys.
I've been thinking about trying the "over the handlebars" thing for some time now.
After all, I'm almost 60 and haven't tried that yet.
Thanks to your [strike]reckless[/strike] brave actions I have decided to forget the whole thing.
    Thanks Jack!!:yesway:
    Mike
    P.S. Glad to hear you're OK. :D
