Are public schools and their buildings a benefit to our modern day society? Are they really getting the job done, educating our children? I'm thinking it in these times and advanced technology we have, maybe they are just warehouses for kids to keep them out of trouble and parent's hair during the weekdays. I even question the value of having all of these expensive buildings in our communities. Educators are always asking for more tax money to tear down old ones and build new ones. Our kids don't seem to be gaining on other societies in education. I'm not smart enough to have THE answer for an alternative, but I think that it is high time that we think out-of-the box with regards to educating our youth, especially in these fast paced changes in technology. Public schools seem to be monuments to a bureaucracy of educators (by far the largest group of government workers) and administrators.
