Need opinions on Red Dot. Found an 8 pounder and was wondering how it does with cast bullets in 38 special. Like always, thank you INGO :ingo:

I have used it for years on many pistol calibers (.38. .41, .44, .45) and it is a very useful powder. It's really not dirty unless you load it too light and the case doesn't quite swell enough to seal the breech. A lot of powder measures don't like it and will chop grains. It can also bridge in the meter so give it a little tap every time you dump a charge to ensure you get it all. Crunchy but good.

I have used PROMO with good results. PROMO load data is the same as Red Dot by weight. Volume of these powders at equal weights is different though.

I would use Red Dot if the price is right.

Hey gents...thanks for the replys. I have found a couple pounds of HP-38 and decided to go that route. I was looking at a burn chart and it showed Red Dot burns faster than Titegroup. My guess is it would be as bad, probably more smoke than i get now. Thanks again guys.
