Nice looking old shotgun. Some of those old 12 ga. shotguns had chambers of 2 1/2 inches instead of the 2 3/4 and 3" chambers commonly found today. If it is in shootable condition, the Aguila mini-shot shells might be ok to shoot in it, but I'd check around to make sure that the gun is safe to shoot.
The length of the shotgun chamber is measured to the length of a fired shotgun shell, so a 2 3/4" shotgun shell will drop into a shotgun chambered for a 2 1/2". A unfired 2 3/4" shotgun shell measures less than 2 1/2". Since the 2 3/4" shotgun shell wouldn't open up completely when fired in a 2 1/2" chamber, it could create dangerous pressures. I hope I explained it, so you understand it.Well, I don't know if this is a definitive test, but I just dropped a 2 3/4 inch shell in it and it dropped right in, flush. I do think I'll take it to my gunsmith and have it looked over. Better safe than sorry.
Thanks, I wondered about that. I even tried to get my reloading calipers and measure, but couldn't really do it. Sounds like another argument in favor of getting it checked by a professional. The length of the shotgun chamber is measured to the length of a fired shotgun shell, so a 2 3/4" shotgun shell will drop into a shotgun chambered for a 2 1/2".
