Hey ingo, I just purchased a Winchester 94 Ranger 30-30. The serial number shows it was made in 1989. Here is the kicker...it has never been fired...still has factory grease. So to say it is in flawless condition is an under statement. I am debating on if I should keep it in this condition or if I should use it for the cowboy gun it is and have fun with it... thoughts?

    Shoot it and enjoy it!

Being made in '89 - it has the cross bolt safety, right?

If so - then it's not really all that collectible.

Unless you think you can sell it to someone in a state that allows .30-30 for deer hunting - you may be able to sell it for a premium that way.

But I still say shoot it!

I had, up until last fall, an unfired model 94 in 30-30, from 1968! If it's post 64, collectors don't want em. It's definitely a shooter! Shoot it! If you don't like it, trade it! (Being post 64, you'll likely do better trading it, than selling it.) I put a half a box through mine, and traded it off. It was a nice gun. Just not my style!

I have a 1980ish Win94 Lever action in 30-30. LOVE IT!! I love the thump, love the casing running across my hat brim when I cycle the lever.

Only thing I don't like about it....feeding it!!

I had the same problem with a .44 Super Blackhawk I got from a fellow INGO member. It is a pristine 3 screw made in 1972.I have wanted one for many years.I debated for about 3 weeks and finally told myself you bought it to shoot, shoot it!Never regretted my decision.:D
