I was sitting in class today and we started discussing the shooting up in Ft. Wayne over the weekend. A LEO in the class then said "If you aren't a cop, you shouldn't carry." He couldn't give me a good reason as to why we shouldn't carry. INGO I come to you to ask, why not?:D

That wasn't officer Maxey was it?

OP, I can see INGO has been filling you full of, well, Horse**** as usual. There are a few very good reasons why you shouldn't carry. Here is my top 10 list:
    10. Prolonged carry can wear down the leather on your expensive belt.
    9. You can develop a neuropathy known as "gunslinger's neuropathy" from continuous pressure against the superficial femoral nerve.
    8. You have to go through the arduous process to obtain a LTCH (to do it legally)
    7. Who has time to sort out all the INGO expert posts on XDm vs M&P vs Glock vs 1911?
    6. as above but .380 vs 9mm vs .40 vs .45?
    5. You will likely be kicked out of the Michael Moore fan club.
    4. You may be forced to write a 3 page diatribe on the people that gave you dirty looks while OC.
    3. It will give you a false sense of security (see post on why preppers will die without ROL)
    2. If by chance either Obama or Romney win they will ban your gun and you will be out a few hundred bucks or so.
    1. AND the number one reason you should NOT be allowed to carry; If you run into me after I posted this I don't want you to be able to provide me with my just desserts.

Thank you, thank you, thank you very much. I'll be here all week... :joke:

BTW In regards to your avatar; I believe Zombie Hunting is a states rights issue so....

Tell that LEO he should go convince all the scumbag criminals to give up their guns and leave us law abiding citizens and our 2A rights out of it.

"if you're not a cop you shouldn't carry a gun. You're asking for trouble and you'll eventually get yourself killed."

Ask him for his personal cell number so you can call HIM if you ever need someone "qualified" to carry a gun to defend yourself. That is, as long as he owns a teleporter, or a car capable of speed-o-light travel. And provided you can get the BG to wait to assault you while you ring him up.

I must have missed it. Did the holder of a valid LTCH shoot someone in Ft. Wayne this weekend?

Convicted felon by the name of Traneilous L. Jackson did the shooting. Can't figure out why someone with a history like his is still out walking the streets.

How do you guys feel about citizens being required to take a gun safety/gun use training course before being able to carry or possibly own? Or do you feel that impedes your rights too much? I'm not saying I advocate it - but what do you think?

Personally speaking I wouldn't even feel comfortable owning a gun without first being trained. I take this endeavor very seriously and feel that as a responsible gun owner I should be adequately trained. And frankly I would have that expectation of others.

Going next week for my class! :D

Voluntary training? All for it. Mandatory training? Nope not even nyet nein! The Second Amendment says nothing about shall not be infringed after a training course or two.

Yeah I totally get that. But do you really feel good knowing the anthill shooting guy is walking around out there with a gun? Ok I'm kidding a little. I guess it's kind of like drivers. They may have a license but that doesn't mean they aren't a complete idiot.

Present company excluded of course <3
