If we had some flight instructors that had this same "racist" attitude, and refused to do business with enemies of the state there would be two tall buildings still standing with about 4,000 people in them.

    1. Muslims make up 1.6 Billion, or 23% of the world. If you think we can not "deal" with them, then welcome to the 3rd world, of no oil, and no world influence, America.

    2. The sins of the father are not upon the son. Or the cousin. Or the completely unrelated dude who happened to be born on the opposite side of the planet from you. To treat them as such is a sin of another kind.

    3. 1.6 Billion. Right now not all of that 1.6 Billion are our mortal enemies, but given the natural instincts and resulting actions of some Americans, we might just pick a fight with nearly 1/4 of the entire planetary population. That's not exactly smart.

    4. If you start down the road of selective reduction of options/rights/whatever of people, and do so by groupings of people, then pretty soon you are going to find yourself selected against -especialy if you are some kind of increasing minority (say gun owners, or caucasian, or rural who only make up 17% of the population and decreasing...). You open that door and on the other side is a bed of your own making.

    5. PC is when someone says you cannot say something. Consequence is when you use your right of free speech, and I use either my right of free speech or association in response. It is not PC when people find a joke unfunny. They may just find it unfunny and not be interested in hearing the next. (not aimed at you, just a general point explaining the difference)

    6. Muslims will eventually make up a larger portion of the US population and there is no changing that fact. People can either do their best to make friends with their new neighbors and help them Americanize/Secularize or they can wall them off, call them names, and later act surprised when it goes badly.

    7. I find it interesting that so many who support a foreign policy that is arming Muslim nations to the teeth (Iraq, Afghanistan, Egypt, etc) with heavy gear, would turn and not give simple firearm instruction to fellow Americans due to religion. Seriously? No international terrorist is gonna take a CCL class from Jim-Bob. They have far better options than that.

    8. We are in the midst of a soft war of minds and hearts with the 60% of non-gun homes of America and the 80% of Americans who live in Urban areas and are decreasingly raised with positive firearm instruction or connections. We lose the next generation of them and you can forget your grandkids' gun rights. The first way we win that war is by not shooting ourselves in the feet when we spout off our mouths and reinforce every stereotype of gun owners that exists. Self inflicted wounds are just the worst.

So, yeah, this guy might sound like a bucket of chuckles.
And those of us not laughing might sound like PC jerks ruining the locker room jokes.

But in the end he hurt more than he helped.

That's the point I was heading for...

NOTE - I may disagree all to heck with any given group - but in almost every group you can find good and honest people.

I agree 100% with this statement. I've made no statements that Muslims are bad people nor did the video. My position is this; a certain group of muslims want to destroy our way of life. ( note, that I said a certain group, not all)
A private business can refuse anyone service just as they can refuse to allow you to open carry your firearm. It becomes an issue when the proprietor of an establishment refuses to serve an entire race. This video is probably BS because he would be sued under current federal anti-discrimination rules. My issue is with the lemmings that jumped on the "he's a racist bandwagon".

I'll say it again, we know who wants to destroy our way of life and kill all infidels.
Just a clue for the slow ones in the bunch, it ain't g-ma! This isn't racisim or bigotry, it's common sense. Apparently it's not very common any more.

Serious? Almost everyone jumped on the "he's a racist bandwagon"!
Blue haired g-ma never blew up a plane. Little handicapped girl in a wheelchair never suicide bombed a police station. Who does TSA check? Blue haired g-ma's and little girls in wheel chairs. No wonder they've NEVER caught or stopped a terrorist! Political correctness be damned, we know who wants to kill us, and if you people think he's a racist and a bigot for refusing to teach Muslims how to shoot then I'M hanging in the wrong crowd. I'm new here, but I'm not new to this world.

Mods, if I've offended, please feel free to delete my account, after reading the PC outrage at this guys statement, I don't know that I want to stay anyway.

Remember, we have the 2nd amendment to protect the 1st!!!!!!
In what way has his 1st amendment right been violated by the members of this board? You don't have the freedom from being called a bigot when you say bigoted things. I DO have the right to call others bigots. So what was the point of your last comment? Pretty sure no one here has advocated laws to make him withdraw the ad.

No rights have been violated, nor did I claim any were. A couple of posts have stated that they "hate guys like this" and so on. Hate is a pretty strong emotion for merely disagreeing with a statement. If people don't like his views they shouldn't support his business.

By definition, he is a bigot. More specifically, you could call him a political bigot and a religious bigot. Some people will see him as a bigot, and some will see him as principled.

Crockett Keller, the man from the radio ad, was demonized by the left for his statement. There was an investigation done by the Texas DPS. Nothing came of it because he never refused to train anyone. The 1st amendment allows him to say things which many may find disagreeable. That is one of the things that makes us free. The left loves the 1st amendment as long as they're the only ones using it.

My question is this. Did he make the statement because he's a bigot, or did he make the statement out of logic and common sense? He never said anything about hating Muslims or even liberals. He basically stated he's not going to train them or assist them in getting a license. He's not advocating either group be banned from the process, just that he isn't going to assist in it.

He's not advocating either group be banned from the process, just that he isn't going to assist in it.

He ran a radio advert making that point clear. I.E. he advertised that he would train Christian arabs, but not "non-Christian" arabs, or just Muslims as a whole. Bet if someone pushed, he might consider "Jewish arabs" but you do see that by the time you are having that conversation you have already gone over the line we are discussing.

He paid money to let everyone know he distrusts all muslims and non-christian arabs. The fact that no-one has been refused is likely due to intelligent avoidance by smart people. If someone did want to push the issue it would be easy to call and get the refusal, but most people don't want to poke armed bigots so that they can prove they are bigots.

And I do not blame them.

Now, to your logic point: Since some muslims want us dead then it is wise not to train any of them. If we had taken that approach before we would have fewer bodies on the ground.

Here is why the logic fails: It is the same logic that gets used against us. 20 guys attacked us. Perhaps 10x-100x that helped support and plan the event. Even at 100x, you are looking at 2000 people, OUT OF 1.6 BILLION. Anti-gunners spend their time using numbers like 32,000 dead by guns out of 300 million Americans and we go bonkers here when they do it. We argue that most of those incidents are criminal, that the actual number is such a small percentage it is not worth changing status quo over, and that fundamental rights should not be effected even if the percentage were higher - which it is not.

Well, even 2000 or 20000 out of 1.6 Billion is statistically miniscule. Not to mention if we do not believe in changing basic rights/treatment based on 0.00000125% of a religious group's population or at any number really.

Does much of the world have an issue of terrorism, medievalism, and generally being a craphole that anyone would rather escape or gain revenge over? Yes.

Do we need to treat everyone a certain way based on their faith? I would hope not.

He paid money to let everyone know he distrusts all muslims and non-christian arabs.

I wonder what Big Tex's attitude is on Massad Ayoob--Syrian and Druze (IIRC)? Heck what does he think of the dozens of non-Arab Muslims? Arabs that span a range of religions?

If I submitted a comparative religion test to Big Tex how would he do?

One of things that I find most enjoyable about the gun culture is that things that are often societal constructs--race, ethnicity, religion, SES, height, being rhino or not, inter alia--all fade away in discusses of 9 v. .45 or "which gun for bear". Freedom becomes our polestar regardless of where we are from.

Why continue old disputes in the gun culture?:dunno:

I just want to know what a "socialist liberal" is or who would be a socialist liberal.

I figured out that he hates non-Christian Arabs (I guess non-Christian [insert another ethnic group here] are fine) and Muslims, which you guys appear to have covered and I've repped you accordingly.

I will fight for this bigot's right to speak and associate with whomever he wishes. That is what freedom is.

If he doesnt want to sell his product to whoever then he shouldnt have to.

If he wants to make stupid ads to promote his business then he should be able to.

Gee, I didn't think this post would get much attention. I posted it, just because I thought it was humorous. I happen to be a member of a minority group (Crip - not as in gangs but as in amputee) and I've learned over the years to either ignore comments or in most cases, laugh with them. Just chill, love your neighbor and pray for our country.

Do you think it would be described as humorous by a muslim?

I know for a fact that your minority group that you belong to is a protected class, and by law can not be discriminated against. You wouldn't be laughing along with this guy if he refused business from amputees.

Picture it for a brief second if you're able.

Political correctness be damned, we know who wants to kill us,

Sometimes 20-something year old white guys like Timothy Mcveigh or John Walker Lindh want to kill us. In Russia, they have to deal with caucasion Chechen muslim terrorists both male and female, blowing themselves up. Why couldn't they be recruited to attack here? Tell me, what does a terrorist look like?
