I've been looking at many CZ pistols, as well as some clones, and I've noticed that they are very hard to find suppressed. I'm mainly talking about 9mm 75 pistols and their clones. I've heard that there are threaded barrels made, but it often seems to be "a friend of a friend's uncle knows where to get one." So my question is this; why are threaded barrels so uncommon/hard to find? I'm considering trying to get an EAA witness elite stock 3 at some point in the future and my mind just naturally wandered to the thought of a nice can. Thank you for your time. -Ben

Folks are a bit sensitive to spending north of $200 on a barrel from CZ customs.
I just bought one for my P-07 and they are a bit salty.

Add to that shipping fee's and a $100 fit up fee and that is an expensive project.

Don't you need a tax stamp for a suppressor? Average gun owners don't know the laws involved and/or don't want to inadvertently (or because of entrapment) become a felon. The feds are pretty unreliable and plain old fear keeps the masses from voluntarily dealing with them. This lack of demand is reflected in the availability of suppressors.

It's not exactly that people don't want them...... It's more that people are afraid of them. You can't sell to people who are afraid to buy. If the hard-core want to be swimming in gadgets, the gadget needs to become mainstream.

One day you will be buying suppressors at the hardware store. Twenty years ago nobody wanted the dreaded black assault rifle (ar15, sks, ak47, ect). Now they are as common as Ruger 10-22s When the general public demands them, they will be everywhere.

As I am just getting on to the CZ band wagon. I am considering selling off my G19 (w/ lone wolf TB) and going to A CZ-75 with a TB. Suppressor is a Thompson machine Isis.

    Simple reasoning: Economies of scale.

The CZs and their clones/knock offs don't have the market share that many other pistols do...for now.

Therefore, the makers of threaded barrels don't necessarily make products for guns that make up for a tiny amount of market share. Thus it's more difficult and more expensive to find an aftermarket threaded barrel for one.

THEN you add in that pistol suppressors get spendy in a hurry, add in an automatic $200 excise tax stamp + wait period, and that turns a lot of people off on the idea.

Generally speaking, if only 1 or 2 companies make a threaded barrel for a firearm, then it's because it makes a bad host. I would love to suppress one of my Hi Powers, but have heard they're a nightmare of a host gun. This may or may not be the case for the 75, but could be an option. Ever see a Sig P210 suppressed? I never have, and the reason is because Sig says it can't be done.

Haven't been able to buy them in hardware stores since before 1934, if it hasn't changed by now, I hate saying it won't go back to being able to buy them at the hardware store.

The general public could demand machine guns, doesn't mean the Hughes Amendment is going to go away anytime soon
