    Who's your favorite gun club

    whatyoudid.jpg

My favorite club is Wildcat Valley Rifle & Pistol Club near Brookston; I've had a membership there since my days at Purdue, and continue to maintain it despite living in Indy. Great facility. A little closer to home, I belong to Marion County Fish & Game, home of Friday Night Steel.

I have neglected to post my favorite because I am torn between two: Riley Conservation Club and Martinsville Sportsmans Club. I have memberships at both.

Riley has so many events and is a good length, not to mention the people there are great and willing to help with any sort of shooting sports.

Martinsville is beautiful set in the side off the hills and has the largest berm I have ever seen in Indiana. Not to mention that the people there are also great.

Hard to pick, so I won't.

^^^ this man^^^ made the mistake of telling me he liked to support the local ranges where he shoots, even though they may not be so close to him.

    I'm a member at;
    Martinsville
Riley (and Wabash Valley Practical Shooters)
    Marion Co.

I'll likely join Hoosier Hills and South Central this year also.

Danville Conservation Club in (where else) Danville, IN.

I have been a member there for 3 years now.

I like the following things about it:

    • Relatively close to home
    • They allow high-powered rifles
    • There is a small lake with decent fishing (for members only)
    • A nice club house that can be rented at reasonable rates
    • In general the members there are great folks
I do like Marion County Fish and Game (and they have a much bigger range), and it is very close to home, but being able to fire center-fire rifles made it worth the switch and the drive.

I'd like to shoot there sometime. I lived in Elwood for 6 months while my house was being built and I had no idea there was a range there until about a year ago.

Another DCC member here (Danville Conservation Club). Nice little range, and usually pretty quiet. I fish the lake as much as I shoot.

The town is starting to close in around it, which is taking away some freedoms. No more trap/skeet, and slow-fire-only. Still a nice place to shoot some paper!

I shoot at the world greatest shooting range and Indiana's best kept secret, Young's Longshot. Far as I know it's the only 1000 yard range in Indiana. It has hanging steel targets, a nice building to shoot out of in the cold, fridge packed with goodies, and plenty of great people.

You all owe it to yourself to make the drive there and go shooting at least once in your life.
