Who's better?

I'm watching Van Halen's top 10 on VH1 Classic and was wondering what everybody thought. Who's better Van Halen with David Lee Roth, or Van Halen with Sammy Hagar?

I'm a David Lee Roth kinda guy. I always enjoyed their music with him much more than with Sammy. I like Sammy as a solo act. When he's by himself he is the Red Rocker and can't be beat. They peaked with David Lee.

david lee roth was the better frontman and the music was better, but Sammy Hagar is a far better singer. in terms of charisma, dave. in terms of talent, well....thats why dave is an EMT and radio talkshow host.

Definately the original band was better! David needs to stick to bands and not radio.

The first Van Halen album was astonishing. I remember hearing about it and then buying the cassette and playing it in my '78 Mustang II Mach I.. LOL Nobody had ever heard that type of guitar work at that time.

Sammy and Ronnie Montrose had a great thing going before that. Another great album! Denny Carmassi was the drummer, later to be the drummer for Heart.

Agreed.... DLR for show, he's a great frontman. Sammy has the better voice.

I refuse to see Van Halen without it's original lineup.

This confirms what I was thinking. Sammy is good on his own, but Van Halen has got to have Dave.

Thumbs down to both. Although, Hagar makes some pretty serious but overpriced Tequila.
