movie theater i usually text the guy during the movie when i am ready
Okay SO when I list this I'm pretty sure all of you would be comfortable meeting in a parking lot.
I'd bring a buddy, and obviously, you would get in my passenger seat to inspect it, etc?
Is it normal or would it offend someone if I had a firearm bill of sale with me to be filled out?
I'll probably put that on the ad when I list that I'd feel more comfortable knowing that I had some kind of paper trail saying I didn't own the gun any more.
If the weather is nice you can just stand outside the car and 'show off' the gun for the other person to look it over.
If you want a bill of sale (I use them too) just either state it in the add or let the person know in the PM's while negotiating price/meet location/etc...If they aren't comfortable with the bill of sale then they probably aren't a 'proper person' and you want to let them know ahead of time before you both waste your time for a no sale.
Just stand outside while people are driving by / walking around?
Wouldn't that raise the attention of gun grabbers and people who hate guns?
I mean, I know that we're allowed to open carry, but what if someone called the cops freaking out because "someone has a gun in the parking lot and is going to shoot someone! help!"
I can't imagine that would end perfectly well.

My thoughts exactly.Generalize much? There are LOTS of people on INGO who have an LTCH, NFA stuff, buy from gun stores, some who have held .gov clearances for years, or decades, who would prefer not to do a bill of sale, ESPECIALLY if it wasn't mentioned up front. If that's something you want, for whatever reason, just mention it during the negotiation phase so that the other person can decide whether he/she wants to play. Assuming that someone who doesn't want to play your paperwork game must not be a proper person is... well, let's just say it's a silly assumption.

Yes, it is an assumption, but IMO if you aren't willing to put your name and signature on a piece of paper (I'll also give you one with my name and signature) then, to me, you aren't a proper person. The state of Indiana may view you as proper, but I don't. I also said to either state that you want a bill of sale in the add or the PM's while negotiating, so no one wastes their time meeting up and then not buying/selling because they don't want to do the paperwork. There is a lot more paperwork involved in buying/selling used vehicles, all I ask for in a firearm transaction is a name and signature on a piece of paper, sorry if you don't want to give that info up.
Ah, so it's just the jagee standard of "proper person". Fine. I don't consider anyone who likes basketball or soccer a proper person, so I guess "different strokes". I suspect, though, that most who read your earlier post will INFER the same thing I did, which is that you were saying that someone who doesn't want to give personal information to a stranger from the interwebs is not a proper person in the terms normally associated with gun sales.
So you've never bought a used car from someone you didn't know...or off the interwebs? On the bill of sale/title transfer for a car you have to put not only your name and signature, but your address as well. I'm not asking for an address, I could care less where you live...I just want your name. If you want what I am selling but don't want to sign a piece of paper then move on. I'll sell to someone else. I don't have to sell it to you because the state of Indiana thinks you are a proper person. Just like you don't have to buy from me if you don't like my stance on a bill of sale. There are plenty of people with less than 50 posts on INGO that are 'proper' but according to the rules set forth by Fenway, they can't buy my gun that I have listed for sale here (I don't list guns anywhere else, so they don't have the option to contact me outside of INGO)
Okay so I guess the bill of sale is a really iffy thing with you guys.
I understand, but I'm just trying to cover my end here...
The Walther I'm going to list is completely brand new and it would be easy enough to tell that in a quick inspection. So maybe that would ease some concern about drama like previously mentioned but barely at all.
I'll just play it by a case by case thing.
I guess if an INGO member with 2k++ posts or a huge previous trade history on here contacts me then there's really not much a point.
I just like to be safe on my end on everything I do. Been burned by a lot of people I trusted that I knew, hard to trust people I don't know, you know?

Most everyone has mentioned large public parking lots. To add to that, whenever possible I try to pick the right type of parking lot also. You'll be less likely to have somebody freak out if you meet in the parking lot of Gander Mountain, LGS, or similar. For example, I would try at all costs to avoid meeting in the Target parking lot lest we scare the soccer moms!
