When I was like 12... (15 years ago). I got a cell phone when I was 13 (and I paid for it with my allowance that I earned for chores!)...

I use them in airports or train stations when I travel.
You usually dont have worldwide coverage with cellphone so many people still use those.

5 years ago when my cell phone was smashed against a wall and I needed to call someone.

I did buy one off ebay a couple years ago. It now hangs in my game room with the stereo hooked into the handset. Came as a working unit but I didn't/don't plan on having a land line.

Horse Shoe Casino still has a couple of them as of about 6 weeks ago.

I just "forget my phone at home." And actually the dead battery excuse worked great with the cordless phones at home too...

I can't remember the last place I saw one, but I don't get out much. When I was a kid, every time we went through an airport, I'd hit the coin return on every one I could get to, scored some decent cash. Found a malfunctioning one in MI that would puke out a handful of coins every time you hit the coin release.

Probably 2000, for phone calls. Didn't get mobile until the wife was in the hospital in premature labor.

For less than legit, when did the Riviera club take out theirs? For the "fart joke" level of usage, they took the 666-$SUBSCRIBER_NUMBER$ hookflash-hookflash trick until removed from the premises, IIRC.
