    Model 74/ Walther .22 rifle

Winchester model 74 semi auto in.22 short. It holds a ton of shells and with Cci target shorts the sound of the bullet hitting is as loud as the action moving....or my Walther model 2 bolt action /semi-auto22 rifle. That is the sweetest 22 lr ever made. I wish I could find more mags......

I'm a big fan of squirrel hunting- Single shot Stevens 20ga. full choke in early season; like #4 shot, they often go all the way thru or end up just under the skin on the far side. Later, when the leaves thin out, I use a .22 w/std. vel. target loads for long range sniper attacks-the low noise ang greater accuracy are worthwile. Fave rifles- Mod 39A or old Glenfield bolt action-you'll need the most accurate thing you've got!

870 with 1 once of 6 shot. Shoot about an inch in front of their nose. 870 works for everything.

Sears Roebuck .22 bolt gun. I re-blued and finished the stock after it came in my possession from the family. Dad bought it for Grandpa back in the 60's. Word is Grandpa killed "a truckload" of squirrels with it over the years.

So many squirrels I can't even make a guess. Rabbits, ground hogs, some assorted crows, and a few feral tomcats.

 How in the world can you live w/o a .22? Nothing in the world makes me feel any saner, or more peaceful and connected to the world than limit of headshot squirrels after an early morning walk in some tall timber. .22lr, .17 Mach2, HMR or WMR. Any one will serve. Even .22 short when the leaves are still on.
Favorite gun? I probably carry my Sako Quad with the Lilja bbl most often but there have been some additions to the stable this yr. I'm sure the 1885 Low Wall and the Sako 94 sporter are gonna get time In the rotation. And I have a Contender carbine bbl in HM2 on the way from CA this week that I'll want to try as well.

I actually dont even own a 22 anymore. I sold all of em a few years ago. The way i saw it was yeah it may be the most common round with ammo redilly available but in a ammo shortage it would be the first to get bought up. Boy was i right lol.

As for ammo, if you stock up when its available you have no lack when it is scarce and dear. Ant and the grasshopper parable at work. You not preparin does not constitute an emergency until you're out of ammo. Be prepared.

    CZ 452FS 22lr best shooter I've handled.Will put 5 different brands ammo into same 1inch group at 50. 2nd Marlin 25M 22 mag. The 17HMR raises 1 1/8inch from a 30yd zero to a 50yd shot(at least my 917 with 20gr fmj's). I hated having to range my squirrel shots.

Thats is with a ghetto magazine of 1ea of 5 dif brands. Mine also does much better with each of them singly. Is the only rifle I've ever owned that i didn't have to concern myself with ammo selection put any 5 in it and go hunting, Its Awesome. Stingers did hit 1 1/2 high tight group though, shorts were 2 in low and worst group about 2 in if memory serves me.

Weatherby XXII semi-auto that was my first 22 rifle.
S&W 63 no dash (sadly I sold it).
If I'm on clean up duty, my first gun: Mossberg 500 20.
