I put a scratch in the nitride? finish of my Anderson lower, but it did not go through to the aluminum. It looks like a dark mark on an otherwise pristine lower. Anyone have a tip for getting that blended back into the original look of the finish, or is it on there forever?

    Thanks

Where as my guns are weapons...they are also tools and are bound to get dinged up. I wouldn't sweat it. I'd say the best you would do is find a shade that matches and pray for the best.

Don't laugh but if the scratch isn't bad use regular cold blue on it. You'll have to get it in the right light to see it
wipe thin and repeat until you get the best results

Not a big deal.. If it really bothers you then hit it with a sharpie or paint the gun. To me an ar15 is a tool not a beauty queen. Scratches show character!

Forget the pens and Sharpies, on the AR aluminum alloy you'll be surprised at how well this works.

First used this BC Aluminum Black to cover scratches on folks ' High Standard Sentinel/JC Higgins revolvers w/alloy frames . Since these have no ejector rod return spring it's not unusual to see them with plenty of marks from the ejector ratchet dragging on the grip frame. Found it to color the grey matte finish to be virtually unnoticeable from the original finish. Guns much worse than the one below could be touched up to look quite good again.
