As it stands, probably nothing. I have a 7mm RemMag and a .35 Remington so at this time, I'll just wait and see what the DNR does. If they open it up, I'll use the .35 Remington. If they don't, I'll stick with the Savage 220. Unless.. I get a wild hair. The Ruger Magnum Hunter in .300 Winmag looks nice.

Probably won't buy anything. Already have two Mausers I built in 30-06 and.270 that have only seen a box of shells through each in fifteen years. Might build another in .243 or 6.5 swede for the occasion but will wait and see first.

I would have to use a Remington 30-06 pump that my uncle passed on to me. Would be using it on the farm where he grew up, all the better.

I'll probably hunt with my 300blk again, it fits in the stand so nicely! I would love to hunt with a 6.5 creedmoor though!

As the law stands now your Blackout won't make the cut. As politicos make most laws this one is jacked up right out of the gate. The whole thing will be cleaned up later by adding actual cartridge names--- the .300 will be .300 WinMag

I bought a 1949 vintage Winchester Model 70 in 30-06 for hunting out west. I guess I will have to practice on a few whitetails.

Don't plan on buying any to specifically hunt in Indiana with, but now that certain calibers are legal (at least right now), I'll likely sell some that I no longer use. Selling centerfire hunting rifles in the past was always a little difficult for me. Likely because of the fact that they couldn't be used to hunt with in Indiana and the vast majority of Hoosier hunters likely did not hunt out of State.

I believe he was talking about a .300blackout pistol.

That is what I would go with until the rifle becomes legal. With the sig arm brace to put on your, errrr, cheek, it is really stable with almost no recoil. Same with the 300 Whisper and 300 Fireball. I have larger ones I could use, but they are a bit heavy to drag through the woods.

I have a few 30-30's, 30-06's and 243's so really don't need anything, but the contender pistol that has not gotten much use, could get a 30-30 23" tube and a stock and make a fine little carbine for use when working with a climbing stand and want to keep things light. But I still don't understand the choices of cartridge in the new law? Why the 3 .30 rounds topping off with the 300win? Seems like dropping the magnum chambering and adding the 270win would have been a better fit for the average hunter.

It really should be a caliber restriction and that is all. Like .243 and over. Maybe no greater than .458 out of a rifle.

We might be thinking that the legislators are stupid, but there could be a reason they are writing .300 WM into the law. Maybe they know DNR will react to this law by allowing anything within those power ranges.

I think BigMatt has it. Anyone looking at those cartridges is likely to say "to hell with it, we might as well open it up." They will need an upper limit though like .458, because sure as grass is green somebody is going to have to go to the woods with a Barrett rifle and try to become Chris Kyle.

Except he used a .300 Win Mag for most of his work. ;)

I will probably just make a drive down to Texas and pull my Browning X-Bolt Medallion .308 and Remington 700 7mm Rem Mag out of my father's safe.

.50" is already legal in .50 Beowulf,.500 S&W, etc., so the maximum allowed bullet diameter has to be at least that.
