Curious is anyone will be buying a new rifle specific to the list of calibers outlined in the bill. I personally have a stand on the edge of a field where deer collect at a range of around 200-225 in the southwest corner. There is no place in the little scrub brush area against the field for a stand and a blind is fairly exposed.

A few times they have come within range of my 44 mag but I really have set a 140 yard limit on that gun. I think a Ruger American in .308 topped with a Nikon this year will be the gun for this stand. I will still use the 44 mag for the woods.

If I have one thing... Unfortunately I have a safe full of rifles. I wish Gramps and Dad were still around to use them themselves....

I will be looking forward to blowing the dust off dads BLR in 308. Hasn't been used since 2006 on our last trip to the UP...

    I have a Ruger #1 RSI in .243 plus a 700ADL.
Pops has a mint pre 64 Win 94.............but I actually hate those rifles, and .30-30win
Could take an Argie FAL out and blast a doe.
Love my little .35 Rem TC

Proly end up whacking a doe and a buck with recurve and not even get to a rifle (if things go as planned).

My next rifle purchase will probably be a 7 mm Mag. Had one yrs ago, rather liked it. .300 winmag is a notch above, and I'm older now.
    7 Mag more comfy.

Just curious, why the dislike for the 30-30 cartridge?

    The neck, rim............it aint pretty.
Plus rifles for it................not a lever gun fan.

I like taking my deer in the timber, rather than field edge. Used to hunt a decent sized woods, could stretch it out to 150 or so in there.
Now hunting smaller place, still prefer to blast where it looks like I'm in a much bigger woods.

Just feels better. So 100 yards is about max.
The short TC (or #1 RSI) fits the bill.

My 700 is my yote rifle. The #1 was bought to rebarrel to 35 Rem.

I am still going to use my .450 Bushmaster AR. It has enough range and power to keep me from buying one of the proposed legal HPR calibers which I don't have. When they allow the rest of the .243 and up calibers I will use my Savage 16 FCSS 7mm-08 when the terrain allows me to shoot beyond 200 yards, and will use it when hunting in the rain.

Not buying, but I likely will be spinning up a 300 WM. I've got a spare 700 L/A magnum action, a 1-10 twist M24 contour Hawk Hill Custom barrel blank. 208s , and 230 Hybrids should do the trick for bambi! Lol!

Won't need to buy anything. I bought the "one rifle" several years ago--my Ruger Scout. It's good from 3 yards to 500.

I already have a sweet little contender carbine in 30-30AI, an Encore rifle in .308, and an AAC H&R in .300 BLK. I like deer hunting with break open single shot rifles, so probably one of those.

If it goes through, I'll likely pick up a .308 bolt gun either a 700 or Savage. With my luck, I'll go buy a new gun, get it all set up then have a successful bow season and not need it haha

    Nope.
Been waiting for this to come to fruition for several years now, and I'm already ready.
I have a Gen1 DPMS LRT SASS .308 AR10, but that thing weighs a ton...
I also have a Browning sporting version of the B.A.R. (semi-auto) in .30-06, but that's not likely to see action quite yet.
What I've been waiting to use is my brand new Mossberg 464 lever action .30-30.

Just something about the feel of a lever gun that I really enjoy.
