I have a lot of wants and desires, but the ONLY thing I feel I must have firearms wise that I do not have is a nice 1911 pistol. I spend every spare moment reading about and drooling over them, but have yet to pull the trigger (OK OK some pun intended there).

It would also be nice if the wife were to show approval to this. For the life of me I cannot understand how $60 monthly hairdos are casual at best... my razor works for me... but money spent on more guns is a big no no. Aaah the married life....

I too have never understood this. Money spent on hair, nails, even groceries is money thrown away. Nothing is left afterwards. The groceries get flushed down the toilet the next morning.

Money invested in gold, silver, lead, brass, steel is an investment, not an expense. If you invested in a bar of gold or a quality firearm, it is something that retains its value. I have sold firearms to pay for unexpected expenses. If I didn't have them in the safe, would I have had the cash in a savings account? Maybe not. Probably not.

Try to do that with 5 pounds of onions or lipstick or a manicure.

That 1911 that you buy today will not lose its value over time. It is not an expense, it is an investment.

Lets say you have $1000 in your pocket right now. Why would she object if you invest it in a CD at your bank, or buy a precious metal, or buy a quality firearm. What is the difference between the three?

Would she prefer that you spent it on landscaping around the house? Or dance lessons for the kid?

Many women have skewed understanding of the real world that drives me nuts.

Do what you know is right. She will have to live with it. Or not. Whatever.

And a palette of ammunition for every one of the oddball calibers I collect. :)

    Thats at least a start....

And then... somehow muster the willpower to cut it all back down to just one caliber and platform so I can actually shoot consistently for a change LOL

.............-Get tazed! My brother works (tech/software guy) for a company that does training for LEO and he volunteered to get tazed at some event. That 10 seconds has been relived through story for YEARS. Apparently it was pretty intense. Even though it was intense in a not so good way, curiosity has been increasingly eating away at me since I saw his taze video................

Getting Tased not so much fun, watching your co-workers get Tased, priceless!!:):

I'd like to send a round down an old Lahti or Solothurn 20mm.

About roughly 10 years ago, at Buffalo Rock range in Ottawa, Illinios I was lucky enough to fire a Lahti 5 times. Very awesome, the owner of the Lahti had a junk car to shoot, but got stuck in the sand trying to get it down range. I had my 4X4 and offered me a couple of shots for pulling the car the rest of the way down range. Will always remember that trigger time.

    Off the cuff?

The bucket list would include a Colt Model 1905.

Assuming I survive a front pin failure and get to do other things, I would pick up a Mauser C96 and use it as a daily open carry.

Finally, I would like to have something in full automatic 50 caliber mounted in a Jeep.... just for plinking of course.
