I got the M&P15-22. Sell the black dog mags and buy some S&W mags - they're $20ish on 44mag.

Ultimately I think you'll be better off.

Bradis has AR-15 Olympic Arms (.223) for $599 new.

Do you want a dedicated upper for 22 or a whole new AR. You can get a DSA Upper for $265 (DSA Arms). You can get a whole AR without BCG for $425 or so.
