a gritty heavy trigger pull and really snappy recoil but other than that a very good dependable gun once you get used to it

any magnum is going to have a kick, especially with no springs or anything to absorbe the recoil

what kind of 357? is it a snubby or a 4 or 6" barrel that will make a differece.

If it is a 6" it will be a lot closer to the 40 than a snubby.

I had a .40 cal Sigma, notice I said had.. The trigger was terrible and the recoil felt like someone hitting your hand with a ball bat, much worse than other 40s I've shot.

Sigmas are known for their bad triggers and the .40 version is known to have more noticeable recoil vs other 40s.

You'll get used to both. Learn to shoot it accurately and you'll shoot other guns better.
