    Not far from the tree
That Contender must be slightly unpleasant to shoot:D I got rid of mine with a 14inch, ported .35 Remington barrel because of the recoil.

Girly man! .35 Rem Contender Rocks! Pachmayr grips help some.

Ouch! I know a guy that puts lead into the stock of his Handi 500 S&W and all kinds of other buffering ideas. I put one on layaway a while back but switched to something else after watching Youtube videos on it. I didn't want to knock myself out of the tree stand.

I use a Mossberg 500 with a rifled and ported cantilever barrel and a red dot scope. I usually fire 2 3/4" Super X 1oz rifled slugs but tried the 3" Remington slugster (I think that's what it's called) this year. Anybody else think the 3" slugster's hit a tad bit high? The deer only ran about 10 yards before dropping dead but the slug hit a few inches higher than where I aimed. That was also the case during sighting in.....which I didn't change any settings on the sight from last year.

    But it hurt.:( whaaaa

.35 rem TC super 14, no porting- has a good jolt to forearm, but with Pachmayr Grippers is comfy. It's different, the recoil, and kinda cool actually :)

I could see it as a problem for folks with a bad elbow or wrist, maybe the elbow moreso, due to the straight back kind of whack.

Mossberg 9200 12ga. Ive taken 12-15 deer and several dozen rabbits with it.
That being said Im looking at houng with a .44 mag or something similar.
I really want something that can easily accept a scope and that can give me an honest 150-200 yards if need be. Right now with open sights Im only comfortable out to 80-100 yards.
