I'm traveling to Tennessee for a few days. Was wondering if any one had any heads up on the gun laws of Tennessee. I looked over there state codes a little bit, but didn't see the one that explained all gun laws for the state.

Do you have to notify an officer if you're carrying while walking/driving?

    Can you carry concealed?

Can you carry in the state parks? i.e. smoky mountains

Do "no gun" signs matter per the law?

    Any weird restriction zones?

Anything else that would be helpful is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

I am going to Nashville this weekend. I already looked, and what I found is that they have pretty much the same laws as we do - Schools, courts, etc...

tngunowners.com has a long list of places you cannot carry...ie...business who forbid.

    Notification not required.

yes, with your IN LTCH, you can carry in TN. Openly or concealed. EDIT: Can't see where OC is prohibited from the link above. Doesn't mean it's legal, just that I can't find it on the site.

No Gun signs DO carry weight of law, I believe.

State parks are good to go. Keep in mind that the Smokey Mountains aren't a state park, though. Point is moot now, though, because as long as we can legally carry in the state, the National Park within that state is also OK. (Save for admin/office/shop buildings within the park)

IIRC, your license/permit must be "facially valid". Meaning if you moved, and didn't pay $20 to get a re-issued license and it has your old addy on it you're a no-go on carry.

    Am I correct?

ISP just have to be notified of the move. As long as that happens, you are not required to get a new LTCH unless you just want one.

Smoky Mtn park trails still has a NO FIREARMS sign on all their trails. Do not carry firearms in places with alcohol. This is apocryphal as I do not have TN code to back it up but I overheard a rumor of someone being escorted from the Smoky Mtn Brewery for open carrying.

I know that. This is in regards to using your IN LTCH in the state of TN where their law says that the license/permit must be "facially valid". Meaning that the address displayed on your IN LTCH must be accurate and up to date. So if you told ISP you moved but you didn't get the updated license (showing your new addy) then you cannot carry in TN.

Am I incorrect? That is what I've always read, but I guess it could have changed.
