Weight savings of a non Forward assist no ejection port cover upper? Polymer?

I would just do a traditional upper.. And regular lower.. Free float handguard, pencil barrel. If you are really about weight savings. If you deleted forward assist (IMO things the AR15 NEEDS) you would save a couple of ounces. Polymer upper might save another 1-2.

I wish they sold uppers without the FA but WITH the dust cover honestly.

Other then some OLD A1 types the only uppers that seem to be in this config seem to be 9MM uppers.

CMT makes a billet upper without the forward assist or brass deflector but with the dust cover...

They also make one without forward assist but with the deflector and dust cover. It's their UPUR 2 I believe.

Friends don't let friends build AR's with polymer receivers

I have to agree, with no more than you can get an standard lower for it would be kinda silly to scrimp 10 or 15 bucks to get a polymer. doesn't seem worth it to me.
