Common Indiana Firearm Questions
Does Indiana issue a firearm Permit or License?
Indiana Code (IC) 35-47-2-3 states "application for license to carry handgun" as such Indiana issues a license to carry handgun not a permit. IC is silent on how you must carry your firearm. You can open or conceal carry your firearm.

Where can I not carry a firearm in Indiana?
- In or on school property [IC 35-47-9-2] *
- On a school bus [IC 35-47-9-2]
- Commercial/charter aircraft [IC 35-47-6-1]
- Controlled access area of airport [IC 35-47-6-1.3]
- During annual State Fair
- Shipping ports
- A riverboat casino

* IC 35-47-9-1 allows one to carry a firearm while in a vehicle that is transporting a person to/from school. You must remain in the vehicle.

Can I carry a firearm inside a bar?
Yes Indiana Code does not list it as a prohibit place.

Can I drink alcholo and carry a gun?
Yes, Indiana Code is silent on this issue. This means there is no law.

If I am inside business "XYZ" and told I have to leave because I have a gun do I have to since that business is not listed on IC?
Yes becuase you are on private property (business "XYZ") and have been told to leave. If you refuse then you can be arrested for trespassing which is IC 35-43-2-2.

Can I carry my firearm inside my car visibly?
Yes, Indiana Code is silent on this issue. You carry your firearm on you, in plain view or concealed in your car.

internet rumor

Need a legal link (IC or federal law) before I can add it to the doc otherwise it's just an internet rumor. Could be that it may apply to teh truck driver's with their special license but suspect it's more a company policy.

Yeah, but I read on the internet that they can't put anything on the internet that isn't true. I found my new GF on the internet. She's a french model. We haven't met yet, but have a date set for next week. I can't wait to see her.....

should "I have no mental defects" be changed to " I have no dangerous mental defects" since there are people with a LTCH who have been granted an LTCH since they were not deemed "dangerous" ????

There are no rules or regulations prohibiting carrying in a commercial motor vehicle. Most companies have a "policy" prohibiting it. This is an issue controlled by each state, not the federal government.
