I accomplish the same thing by carrying a holstered firearm around the house and owning a safe. Its cool in a James Bond-y sort of way, I guess, but seems like a solution to a problem that's fixed significantly cheaper and easier by more mundane methods.
I've dabbled in woodworking for more than 40 years. I've made many, many things that turned out really nice in my opinion, and even some others.
That said, I probably have a little better idea than your "average Joe" of the degree of difficulty involved in such a project. These technical challenges are GREATLY exaggerated if you don't have the proper tools.
There is a LOT of time, sweat, and sheer craftsmanship that goes into such a piece of art.
I'd love to own something similar, but unless I hit the lottery, I can't justify that kind of outlay for what I consider a luxury item. It is NOT a safe.
